I meant to write something else entirely, but this came out instead. A scene from the sequel to Amazing Grace that still lives in my head. The only important thing to know from that story is that Arthur and Yusuf are intelligence agents, and Yusuf is Scottish. Yep.

* * *Arthur enters Bhutan by way of the Indian border, getting a ride into Bapeta and hiking north. It’s not the most inconspicuous he’s ever been, but he’s lucky enough not to run into any local hostility along the way. The native predators, thankfully, are equally obliging. The weather is not ( ... )

“Let’s go,” Arthur says, swinging up into the cab. Yusuf is already in the driver’s seat, and they screech out of the alley a second later, heading for the freeway ( ... )

“This is your idea of cooperation?” he snarls at Yusuf, without taking his gun off Eames.

“Ah, ah,” Eames chides. “Blow me out of the dream and I’ll only wake first. I don’t think you can afford that, considering.”

“He’s not with me,” Yusuf insists, keeping both hands where Arthur can see them. Not that it matters; he’s outnumbered even if Yusuf is telling the truth. “He locked me in the bloody vault, I thought he was with you!”

“Who are you working for?” Arthur asks Eames, voice cold.

Eames cocks his head. “Would you believe me if I said France?”

“No.”

“In that case,” Eames says, smiling, “France.”

“Eames.“I’d love to chat, really, but I’m afraid I must be going. It’s been lovely, we must do it again sometime.” Eames pauses, and his smile changes, shading into something more intimate. “I have to say, Arthur, I’m surprised you haven’t come looking for me yet ( ... )

I enjoyed this!

Also, just wanted to drop a comment & say that I really like:
- how you write interactions/relationships between characters
- how you write action! Seriously, the pace is great & it's fun to read. :D

oh my god, this is bloody amazing because eames is such an immoral bamf in this *grin* I love spy au's (or not so au in this case 'cuz dom's the one dreaming up canon in this verse) because they are just so devious and chock full of betrayals and adrenaline! I love this so much because eames might be smitten with arthur but he's a thief first and foremost. thanks for sharing this!

He is both smitten and a thief, it's true! Also he needs to collect those paychecks; he might need them for wooing, you never know. Arthur is on government contracts, he can deal. And it's gotten his attention, right? *g*

Thank you so much for your comment!

I DID NOT SKIP IT, EXACTLY. I HAVE JUST...NOT WRITTEN IT. I know, I know. Fail, self. /o\

I actually have a whole bunch of it typed up, I just accidentally abandoned it while I was working and got distracted by other things. I shall try to get back to it!

Thank you again for reading!!

HA. Oh my goodness, this is absolutely the best.

“In that case,” Eames says, smiling, “France.”

LAUGHING FOREVER.

I truly live in awe of your Arthur POV. So excellent.

Yay, thank you! I really, really love imagining Yusuf as an intelligence agent, I don't even know. I think he would be amaaazing. One day I will hopefully get around to it! New things just keep getting in the way!
