beginnings and things I will miss

I walked the dogs out across the soccer field/dog park last night; it was past dusk, and just after a thunderstorm. Clouds rolled across the sky, and occasional strobe flashes of lightning arced from cloud to cloud, accompanied by grumbles and booms. Summer thunderstorms are probably what I miss most about living back east. But I'll trade the humidity for mild summer days and cool nights any day of the week. And there might not be lightning bugs, but we've got bald eagles! We get some colors in the fall, although they don't stick around nearly as long as they do back east. But it stays much greener here through the winter. Plus, we have snow-covered mountains to look at. And yes, there will be bats.
