Also, question: do you see parallels in Jackson/April and Mark/Addison? If so, do you think they're intentional?

I definitely got the sense they were grooming Jackson this way. He's suddenly taken over Mark's interactions with Callie (well, he's sharing them with Alex) and Derek put him down the other day exactly as he would have spoken to Mark. And, yes, I almost thought in the last episode that Shonda might be re-writing Mark/Addison in Jackson/April, but successfully.
Some of the things that alerted me to the parallel were the fact that April's hair is redder, I believe; that she had an insatiable appetite for sex with Jackson, the regretted it bitterly . . . and then did it again. And that Jackson, as you say, discovered love, against all the odds. Also (a little blasphemy coming!) - Addison didn't need Jesus, she had Derek! That is not a serious point, btw ( ... )

I wondered why her hair was dyed red. It was a bit difficult to get used to, but it was one of those insidious processes, don't you think? First it was brown then the hue changed until at the end of season 8, she's a full on redhead.
As I think more about it, I could see the Mark/Addison parallels coming out. In 3x03, she was talking to Mark in the bar telling him to go home. Sort of buttering him up a little bit and in the end she almost kisses him, but ends up slapping him instead. I compare that to April trying to apologise for her slip ups in the on-call room and telling Jackson he's like that dessert she shouldn't have, but can't help herself.
Addison didn't need Jesus, she had Derek!Don't forget Derek has a god complex, so it fits! That's where I was going with ( ... )
