Though this could be the reason why I buy most of my stuff in random bursts from random shops I find in the most random of places.
For me, I don't really care what I buy so long as I like it. If I like something at a popular store, I buy it. If I like something at a small flea-market stall, I buy it. Just because something is from one particular store doesn't make me want it, and I certainly won't want to buy a pair of $300 jeans just because some designer's label is on it.
So I guess while I won't stand with you at that crossroads, I won't become part of the water that's trying to take you down.
(By the way, I love how philosophical I sound whenever I reply to your stuff. It bolsters my opinion of myself. XD)
Hey, I'm the same. If I like it, SCREW what the labels say. It should come naturally-- I shouldn't have to think, "well, this is/isn't a designer thing". I should think, "damn, man, this is cool".
