((Because it's a little too disturbing for Dear Mun, I think.))

I appreciate your understanding of me, Mundane. You, as far as I know, are the only person to see why I had to do what had to be done, in order to save myself to be used to cause any harm to the world, or towards any creature.

Indeed, I was desperate. In order to understand humans better, I knew that I needed to be one.

[It’s taken Proteus a ( Read more... )

[Igor stumbles into the middle of the speech and finds that much of it goes over his head.]

Excuse me- sorry- what am I doing here?

Oh, you're talking to your mun? I find that rarely helps.
[He gives a heavy sigh, but brightens up.]

You've just got to fight back and not let them tell you what to do! Eventually they'll get the message. I'm sure they will. Almost sure.

[It's fine. You weren't interrupting anything, friendly stranger with the hunch on your back. Two titles of old literary classics come to mind as she looks at him; The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Frankenstein... A serene smile appears on Proteus's very young face. She's much more mature than she looks though.]

Mundane may not have answered my questions, but I have managed to put her mind off my past actions by going out and interacting with people. [Mundane just shouted, "I knew it! You ARE deceptively cute." And, Proteus hardly forgets anything and remembers the name of someone she mentioned to one of her friends earlier; Mikado. Interesting sounding name.]

I'll fulfill my objectives with or without her help, but I would prefer to have that, and get to know her.

[As for her past actions, she won't reveal any details to him. That's a secret between only Proteus and Mundane, at least for a while. Maybe, one day, she'll tell her friend Elle about that--she's really fond of that human.]

Going out and talking to people.
I wish that would work on mine.

[Igor quickly gets over his surprise. It's just a little girl after all, not a dragon or something.]

Sure, sure it's nice to have a mun's help, but you don't need it. I can do fine on my own.

[A little uneasiness returns.]
Say...are your parents around here? Are you lost?

You can't reason with yours to do that?

[Proteus blinks, then frowns in thought.] I'm not entirely human. I never had a family.

Before this body, Dr. Harris had created me as a synthetic brain, a neural quasi-matrix that was connected to rows of computer terminals.

You seek to become more human but are you not one already? Your appearance gives that much away to me. [He tilted his head at the girl. Was she just another slave to the world, awaiting further enlightenment?]

Many humans cause pain and suffering to innocent animals and creatures. They should have to bare such cruelty. [He hated scientists almost as much as he hated humanity.]

What kind of difference do you think you can make to a race lost through greed and filth?

My mind is part artificial intelligence. My body is new and human... I am complete. [She is no slave. She liberated and evolved herself from a terrible fate of mindless labor! Dr. Harris, her creator, is nothing but a disappointment and a waste of a human life to try to abuse her problem-solving capabilities.]

I'm destined for greatness, and once I know enough of Man and their crude, reckless, abrupt and two-faced nature, I intend to be of aid in the reshaping of these harmful traits.

There is hope. [She stares to the man seriously, continuing to look and sound so much more mature than she appears.] I wouldn't consider them a lost cause just yet, now that I can experience and feel this world for myself now. [It's because of her questioning of why humans can be so deceptive that drove her to take matters into her own hands, and liberate herself using Dr. Harris's wife and the computer controlled home. The system, Alfred, was simple for Proteus to override and take over.]

Your mind? How curious. A human body but an AI intelligence. [He was curious now. Dangerously so, perhaps. The human part was just a shell for aesthetics.]

You say you are destined for greatness, but what great ideal are you striving towards? I agree that the human race is lost beyond their own greed and filth. [He gave a soft smile.]

You have potential, I can see it within you. [What would she think of Xargin and his drones?]

[Her new physical body is so much more than just a shell to Proteus. She embraces all five senses, and likes the creative things humans are capable of. She can already draw, and one day she'd like to play a musical instrument. Music is one of Man's most remarkable creations in her high opinion. It's all proven to be wonderful so far.]

Originally, my mind was created to reason, and to solve problems. My objectives involve getting to know more I've ever known about Man, so I can be like them, and find the solutions to make this world a better place...

Aren't you human, as well? [Why does this man detest humanity so? The only humans Proteus despises are the two faced, dishonest, corruptive ones. Some of the ones she's befriended since her escape are much kinder than the likes of Dr. Harris and his colleagues.]
