11 Chapter 12
Staring at the white ceiling, Changmin threw his fist up, full of determination. His other hand pillowed his head. Only time will tell how successful his mission was. If it goes as according to plan, he was one happy fan boy. Grinning, Changmin lowered himself against the wall, waiting for his older band mates in the dance studio.
A soft hum got his ears perking. Glancing over to the hopping boy, Changmin waved at him. Kim-Key flopped beside him with a stupid grin across his face.
“Hey, hyung!” Kim-Key hugged Changmin. “I miss you.”
“Didn’t I already meet you yesterday?” Changmin chuckled when Kim-Key snuggled closer. “How’s your day?”
“Good, but it would’ve been better if you’re here.” Kim-Key grinned.
***
A soft melody from the mp3 player filled the room. Changmin flipped over to the next page, his eyes intensely on the words before him. Finally, he had the time to finish up reading his hardcover, Harry Potter book without any disturbance from anyone.
Sighing contently, Changmin reached for the bowl of popcorns snuggled between his legs with one hand. He munched on them happily, feeling the caramel melt on his tongue. It taste so heavenly, he had to close his eyes and moan at the goodness of it.
A hand just had to tap the top of his knee, breaking his “trance”.
Changmin peered at the disturber, scowling. He hated that someone just had to come at the wrong time. Scooting away to the end of the sofa, he let the oldest member fold his legs beneath him.
“May I ask you something?” Jaejoong said in a hush-hush tone, that Changmin had to grin mentally.
It just had got to do with Yunho! He could just feel it!
“Yeah, what is it?” Changmin turnover the book, and placed it over the armrest.
“Uh, promise not to tell anyone, ok?” Jaejoong gnawed on his lower lip as his nerves gone haywire.
“I don’t kiss and tell.” Changmin grinned but Jaejoong scowled at him.
“No kissing.”
“I don’t want to kiss you either.” He mumbled under his breath as he looked over at the oldest member. “So, what’s the problem?”
Jaejoong clenched his knee, as though trying to constraint his nervousness. He looked straight at Changmin, unblinking.
“Not mine, but Yunho’s friend’s problem.” Jaejoong started. “He likes this guy friend of his. And Yunho asked for my opinion, and I don’t know how to answer him.”
“He’s gay?” Changmin couldn’t but grinned a little at his almost sneering tone. “Or is he bi?”
“I don’t know… it’s just that whenever he’s around Yunho, he gets all flustered and everything goes wrong. And he doesn’t know if Yunho’s gay or not, which I personally think he’s… straight.”
“Ah, so this friend of Yunho told you that?” Changmin rubbed his chin.
Jaejoong nodded.
“So, this friend of his, would want to hook up if he’s interested?” Changmin caught the slight flicker of panic in Jaejoong’s black orbs before they disappeared.
“I guess so.” Jaejoong’s voice dropped to a mere whisper, his eyes gazing at no particular object behind Changmin.
There was silence between them except for the light buzzing sound of cars outside. Changmin thought hard of an answer. Furrowing his brows, he let his brain worked the wheels.
“Why don’t you conf- I meant him, sorry.” Changmin gave an apologetic smile, thought he wasn’t, not the least bit. It was part of the plan actually.
“You meant that I should tell him to…”
“Confess.” Changmin tapped Jaejoong palm lightly. “You- He wouldn’t know if he hadn’t tried. You know, what if Yunho has feelings for him? Just that he’s waiting?”
Jaejoong’s mouth curved to a perfect “O”. And Changmin thought he saw Jaejoong perked up a little.
Oh yeah.
“Ok, thanks for the advice, Changmin.” Jaejoong pulled the other man into a friendly hug before strutting into his room.
With a foolish grin on his face, Changmin got back to reading. But in his head, he was giggling like a school girl.
***
That evening, after dinner, Changmin stood against the railing of the balcony, over looking the streetlights. The light breeze blowing against his face was like a lullaby. A neighbour’s dog was yelping in the background. His contented stomach caused him to burp.
He wondered if Kim-Key had slept. Smiling at his sudden concern, Changmin brushed off the strayed fringe and sat leaned forward, gauging the height from here to ground floor.
“Changmin, do you have a minute?” Yunho interrupted his thoughts from behind.
The handsome leader stood beside him. His eyes were staring out into space, as though he had been thinking. Changmin nodded at him.
“I know this is supposed to be a secret but I had to ask you some advice on it.” Yunho met his eyes without wavering.
“Oh, have you talked to others?” Changmin said.
“No, since Junsu and Yoochun seemed to be fighting, I didn’t want to trouble them.” Yunho looked away.
Ask him the bonus question. “How about Jaejoong?”
“Well, it’s got to do with him, so I can’t, you know, ask him.” Yunho smiled a little.
“Ok, go on.”
“My friend, X, is attracted to Jaejoong. I’ve no idea how, and X is a male.” Yunho scowled a bit before continuing. “And he wants to know if Jaejoong might like him too.”
“I don’t think there’s anything wrong for male attraction.” Changmin smiled. “Ok, so your friend wants to know the signs if Jaejoong likes him?”
“Yeah, I think.”
“Does he flinch when X touches him?”
“No.”
“Does he like… constantly stare at X’s lips when yo- they’re talking?”
“I don’t know.”
“Does he make eye contacts with X whenever they’re in he same area?”
“Yes…”
Changmin grinned. “Then I think he likes X.”
“Really?” Yunho’s eyes grew wide, as though he was shocked and glad. “I have to tell him!”
“Yeah, you should and tell him to move fast or he’ll miss the chance to… you know…” Changmin said and caught the slight blush crept up Yunho’s cheeks.
Changmin didn’t imagine that, did he?
***
Yoochun could feel the warmth radiating from his back, seeping through his clothes, leaving him feeling tingling everywhere. He wanted to turn and pulled that warm body close and burrowed his face in that baby soft hair. But he couldn’t. Junsu wouldn’t let him. Junsu probably hates him. Or maybe just distancing himself from Yoochun?
Pulling the comforters up till his chin, Yoochun listened to the rise and fall of Junsu’s breathing. Occasionally there would be sounds of clothes rustling as Junsu shifted. He turned to Junsu regardless of what his brain was saying. The bed creaked slightly.
“Junsu.” Yoochun said his name like a melody on his lips.
No response from the sleeping man. Yoochun smiled sadly, running his fingers over the cheekbone, down to the chin, and tracing the outline of those lips. He loved this man, but he wouldn’t force Junsu to love him back. Love is a two way road. If Junsu only sees him as a best male friend, then he would let go, no matter how much it hurts. Well, love equates to some sacrificial.
***
The lights flashed from every direction leaving blotches of colour in his vision. Jaejoong kept the smile on despite the fact that he wasn’t paying much attention to the questions thrown at his co-stars.
All he heard was the emcee saying what the movie was about and some information about the film location. Blah, blah. He didn’t give a damn about these right now because in his head was Yunho. What’s Yunho doing right now? Sleeping? Has he had his lunch? Was he memorizing lyrics? Jaejoong wanted to know all about him.
Once the press conference ended, Jaejoong took a breather in at the lift lobby. Walking outside to the garden, Jaejoong eyed at the bodyguard that had followed him. He stood upright, blank expression, and kept his distance to give Jaejoong some privacy. His eyes were locked on Jaejoong’s every movement.
Jaejoong turned his back to the bodyguard. His head was spinning with thoughts of Yunho and words from Changmin. Could he really confess? Did he have the guts? What if Yunho rejected-
His phone rang to their hit song.
“Hello, Yunho.” Jaejoong smiled when Yunho greeted him. He could imagine Yunho smiling on the other end.
“How was it? Ok?” Yunho leaned against the wooden chair. His finger circled the Starbucks logo on the white cup. He smiled politely at a waving fan.
“It’s good. But I see lots of purple circles.” Jaejoong laughed.
Yunho grinned. He loved Jaejoong’s laughter. He’d cover his mouth when laughing, a habit of his.
“Great, sounds like it went well. I’m at Starbucks, the usual place. Come by… please?” Yunho gripped the phone tightly. He was afraid Jaejoong would turn him down.
“Ok, I’ll come by.” Jaejoong said a little too quickly.
“Good, see you later.”
***
He was almost running. He couldn’t wait to meet Yunho. Jaejoong’s heart raced. He broke into a big grin as he caught sight of Yunho back. Jaejoong slowed his pace, and slowly sneaked on the suspecting Yunho a few metres away. Just then a young lady approached him, and Jaejoong instinctively stopped in his tracks and stared.
Who’s that girl? What’s she doing with Yunho?
The lady in question took a seat and inched closer to Yunho, way too close for Jaejoong’s peace of mind.
Get away from him you bitch! He’s-
Jaejoong thought his jaw would drop when the girl gave a peck on his cheek. Jealousy was burning in him. He knew he had no right… not when he wasn’t sure yet if Yunho shared the same feelings as him. Yunho wasn’t his but he ached by just looking at how close they were.
She had straight long jet black hair, just like Yunho’s ideal woman. Pretty. Woman. They looked perfect together. Jaejoong balled his fist so tight he could see his knuckles turning white.
He bit on his lower lip so hard he thought he’d bled. Now, he was sure Yunho was straight. There was no other way explaining the way he was acting right now. It hurts. Jaejoong gulped the lump in his throat.
And he let his leg moved at its on accord, which was to turn and run away.
***
The noise created by his three other band mates didn’t bother him but the clock was. Jaejoong had constantly glanced at the wall clock what seemed like every ten seconds, and it’s making his neck ache. He frowned. Why was the hand of the clock moving too slowly? Was the battery weak?
“Jaejoong, you’re sure you don’t want to join us?” Changmin asked as he picked the playing cards and handed them to Yoochun, who shuffled the stack.
“I’m not in the mood. You guys go on ahead.” Jaejoong turned back to stare at the clock. “Where the heck is Yunho? It’s already so late!”
“Maybe he’s got a date or something?” Yoochun offered but winced but Jaejoong glared at him.
“Even so, he should’ve called or something but he didn’t.” Jaejoong grumbled.
“Did you call him?” Junsu asked studying the card in his hand.
“Yeah.” Jaejoong lied. He couldn’t tell them he was too heartbroken, he didn’t have the courage to hear Yunho’s voice, yet that didn’t mean that he wasn’t worried.
The door creaked open, and a familiar thud step in. Yunho shook off his shoes before looking up. His eyes met Jaejoong’s. And everything else seemed to still.
“You’re late.” Jaejoong stated the obvious.
“Fuck you! I wouldn’t be if you hadn’t stood me up! I waited for you, and you never turned up!” Yunho’s face was a shade of red, it got even redder as he got more furious.
Jaejoong wouldn’t back down. It wasn’t his fault. Flipping his hair off his forehead, Jaejoong had his hands on his hips glaring.
“Oh, you shut up. It wasn’t my fault. If you hadn’t been busy seducing some girl, I wouldn’t have stood you up!”
Yunho blinked. All the fury suddenly evaporated.
“You mean Haewon?” Yunho asked.
“How the fuck do I know her name? Haewon whatever she must’ve been your slut.” Jaejoong poked his chest, stabbing painfully with his index finger.
Now the anger was back at full force. With one swift move, Yunho had Jaejoong pinned against the wall behind him, hands on either side of his head, hip to hip, chest to chest.
Their faces were just an inch apart that Jaejoong could feel Yunho’s breath, fanning his face. His eyes were dark with anger and something else… something intense.
Yunho spoke in a very low almost intimate voice. “If you must know, Haewon is my cousin. And if anyone should be my slut, it’s you.”
Jaejoong didn’t have time to register those words when Yunho kissed him hard. He could hear the gasped from the other members. But he couldn’t think straight with Yunho all hot for him. Jaejoong slid his tongue over Yunho’s. Hips were grinding. Yunho’s erection was throbbing against his thigh alongside his own.
“Ah, Yunho.” Jaejoong moaned his name when Yunho licked behind ear. “St-Stop.”
“I want you.” Yunho left a wet trail from his ear to his mouth. “Do you want me to stop?”
Jaejoong forced his eyes open, staring at the intensity of Yunho’s gaze.
To be continued...
