Honestly, I'd just fess up. No need to go into particular details. If everyone shows in court and the case isn't dismissed, then just mention that you weren't really paying attention to how fast you were going, point out that it's not something you usually do, and apologize for going too fast.
If it's your first speeding ticket, then they're not liable to throw the book at you, and they will probably reduce the fine and have you take an online driving class to remove the points from your license. Plus, being honest and taking responsibility might work out favorably if the judge is used to people giving long, in depth excuses.
