As I recently realized and tell everyone, being single is like living without a net. And when you are clumsy, forgetful, distracted, human, not having a net when you stumble makes you fall hard. Or walk along being extra worried.

But hey, you are reading a comment from the guy who injected his cat with insulin twice a day every day when he was alone, or would wake up to supervise a cat to eat so he was less anxious three times a night. Getting married for a dog seems sane compared to me, if you find a dog person.

No, you are not imagining it, nor does the fact that you want the best for a loyal loving creature who depends on you make you crazy. I gave my cats up because they would be better off with my ex. 18 months later I am still asking him how the surviving one is, and worry about her.

I swear there've been a few movies in the last decade with that as the premise.
