Ivy, Reiki Master

I was pregnant with Ivy when I got my Medicine Reiki 3 attunement. I wasn't sure whether it would affect my baby or not, but I'd been waiting over a year for the class to be held, so I went ahead and took it. When my Reiki Master passed my attunement, he said he saw six Medicine Hoops. He saw this as three for me and three for the baby, and he felt

Which book are you reading? Could you recommend a good basic one?

Laurel was born with the ability. She watched my mom demonstrate 'touch therapy' after a lecture on it for work and immediately came over and just... healed. She was 3. I swear her working on my back and neck is why I'm not disabled.

That's so awesome! I've definitely decided to recruit the girls more to help with this back problem I'm having. I think most kids are natural healers if in an environment that nurtures it.

I think you're right :) Anna can do a good bit, too, but needs guidance. Laurel has always been able to 'feel' where I hurt with 'hot spots' and just draw out the heat and energy blockages, reduce inflammation and make me mobile again. She's killer with migraines, too!

Man, I'm not sure I'd get any enthusiasm for it here like I might have in Asheville, but I've always wanted to organize kids' classes and reiki shares. I think it would be so powerful!

In massage school, I was working in the private room on a gentleman. I was doing my usual thing, and my form of energy work, and he starts to speak. "You're a Reiki master." and I kinda shrug. "No sir." He looks at me with a critical brow lifted. "I'm a Reiki teacher, I know another Master when I meet one, you ARE one." I just give him my smile. "What I do is Body Energy Work, I have never been trained, it just flows." he smiles. "But you have done it forever haven't you? "I nodded. "You were born with the gift, this is your calling, healing. But know this, You are a master, wether you know the symbology behind it or not, YOU ARE.." And he left and was very happy told the teachers that it was the best massage he'd gotten from a student or a professional alike.

That's awesome. I definitely believe it. Once someone has been opened to the reiki energy in their life, they will always have the ability. That's what I was taught and have come to believe.

Josh saw the symbols when I gave him his level 1 attunement, and symbols aren't taught until level 2. Once they are part of you though, they're part of you. I view the symbols as training wheels. It helps people learn to differentiate between energies when they do energy work, but for people who are long familiar with energy work, they're not necessary. I use them a lot for habit and practice, but I can just as easily distance heal without the distance healing symbol, for instance.

Can't count the number of times I've wanted to study. Just don't have the social support in my home. Hard to live with a person who doesn't understand that we are all just energy and part of a whole. This is very neat to know that Ivy has that kind of strength. You are a lucky mom.

Wanted to study reiki or energy work? The great thing about reiki is that it works whether someone believes in it or not. If you think healing is in your path, definitely check it out. I know my fams wasn't particularly into energy work (or birth, or most of my passions) until I started getting excited and doing work with it, but it's definitely changed the flow of our house for the better.

I think my cat does some kind of energy healing! When he snuggles me I get warm pleasant healing feelings.

My mom has always been able to feel energy. She has a natural healing talent but no training and she seems to end up absorbing sometimes.

I need to get back on track with my reiki.

Yikes! Sorry I've missed this comment. I think that animals and kids both have a lot of natural healing. Cats seem very reiki-inclined.

I've been working on getting back on track with my reiki too. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you out! You should try to get your mom interested in at least level 1. I've found that reiki attunements really help people with a natural ability be able to utilize their skills without picking up symptoms or using up their own energies.
