Dear people bitching about DADT,

Can you seriously not see the political strategy at work here? The Democrats got health care passed when NO ONE wanted it. Do you really think that they couldn’t get this thing done if they actually wanted to? They knew the Republicans would fight it, they let them and they let them win. Why? Mid term elections. Is that what your FL is like?

I haven't read the news yet. Now that you point it out that way, maybe the national Republicans fell for it.

I wonder how many people missed the news that the Clinton appointed judge ruled, for LCR, that Clinton's 17 year old DADT is unconstitutional. It came on the Thursday night of the San Bruno fire.

Obama could have told his DOJ to take the deal and lay down a moratorium on discharges in exchange for putting the trial on hold, though they should have stopped defending it in February 2009. And he could have just assumed that Congress cannot constitutionally interfere with the commander in chief on military personnel issues, and ignored it. So yeah, they went through a lot of trouble to drag their feet and leave the servicemen there as a campaign wedge.

I recently started to wonder whether McCain would have been a push over for how his wife and daughter think, and whether he would have ended up better.

The liberals for years have used gay rights as a political pawn. They make a half hearted stand on something and the gay community votes for them in force. Its pathetic.

They throw the fundraiser dinners and cocktail receptions.

I'll stop wondering about McCain after reading about his latest statements, but he wouldn't have made anybody any promises, and maybe people would have worked him on it.

That national defense authorization bill looks to have everything in it. ENDA, hate crimes, and both pro and repeal DoMA are in there. And then one about making people register firearms, with fees, on tax returns is in there.
