Look up Mitch Daniels. I hope he runs for president in 2012. Jon Huntsman would be decent, too, but he's off in China right now.

The Tea Party has its merits, but I'm suspicious of populist movements. And these folks were hardly worked up when Bush was President (Obama is worse, but Bush started this shit and they defended him). I see a credibility gap with the tea party folks, even if I do sympathize with some of their over-arching goals (like a balanced budget).

As a fellow midwesterner, I have my eye on Daniels but so far he hasn't offered anything concrete. Huntsman I'm not familiar with but I'll look into him.

The tea party is full of pretty speeches but so was Obama. We don't need more of the same with a different label.

"Tea party" sounds so genteel and civilized. Either that, or (given the historical context) revolutionary. Are the current tea partiers either of these things?

That's the image they are trying to portray but I had enough image with Obama. I want substance.

Obama's speeches often lacked policy discussions during the campaign but I don't think he's governed that way. ARRA (stimulus), universal health care, cap and trade, Frank-Dodd, tax proposals, and so on. I mean isn't the tea party/Republican talking point that Obama is trying to pass too much?

What they should be focusing on is the fact that Obama doesn't have a clue as to how to stimulate business.
