We went ahead and voted yesterday. I'm sure it will come to no surprise to anyone who's been paying attention that I voted for Mitt Romney, Mia Love, and Orrin Hatch. I'll be glued to the TV Tuesday night.

And I will be very very very glad when it's over ( Read more... )

I am too.

However, I'm thinking about posting a Very Special Rant about the "vote like your lady parts depend on it" thing. Because that offends me on a visceral level.

I'll be ranting with you. Oh, and that the whole of the Republican platform is filled with homophobia, sexism and just pure spite. Found many comments along those lines.

Well, you're a misogynist if you think killing babies before they're born is somehow wrong, according to the vaunted Social Justice Warriors. And using the word "Chicago" or "apartment," or Mitt saying "my boys" when referring to his kids, is racist. And resisting redefining marriage is homophobic.

You know what, I'm not going to let the Other Side define me. They don't let us define them, after all.

Sneak culture! ;) We saw La Nouba at Downtown Disney about 8 years ago - if it wasn't so expensive I'd go back and take my kids. Maybe in another couple years.

As for politics: Unfortunately, both sides have quite a few really noisy nutjobs and dishonest statistics slingers hogging far more of the media attention than is reasonable, so I'm looking at the actual candidates themselves. Which makes the choice painfully obvious :)

Speaking as a lefty, whose dad is a lefty who collects guns* (including many antiques, like muzzle-loaders), I liked that scene a lot... even if he left a couple of things out. (The last time I loaded one of those things, I remember layers of cloth being jammed down in there, but I confess it's been ages, and I may well be mistaken.) Even if one of the things I like about our modern age is modern firearms. Let's face it, if someone's broken into my home, they're not exactly going to give me a full minute to go through all those steps.

I have a few words about the candidates and the current hot issues, some of those words quite colorful, but if I post about them at all, that's a post for my journal, not yours.

* - Considering my views on guns, I'm not exactly a perfect lefty. Neither is my dad.

It helps to be logged in as the correct person when posting.

Well, in four days it will be all over but the shouting. And I will be so. Friggin'. Happy.

I used to live, breathe, and eat politics. Now I'm just tired.
