This is me, all over. Except I get a PROMISE of cinematic fidelity, for one particular film, and then still get cheated on. Rent with Ali John is my next standing cinematic engagement. I fully expect to be betrayed. OK, obviously not fully, because then I wouldn't have committed. In any case, the story of my life ( Read more... )

My friends and I made a bunch of plans to see dorky movies together over the summer, and then, because I was working, they went to see them without me. I had a similar reaction. Why can no one commit?

PS. You are cool beyond comprehension. Librarians are AWESOME.

Losers.
I guess cinematic commitment is just too old-fashioned for kids these days.

ps. True story, librarians rule the world. I'm glad you appreciate that. Most people think of librarians as old women in cardigans who tell you where you can find books on zebras. But really, librarians are information goddesses.

Have you worked/do you work in a library?

No, unless a summer part-time stint at my College library counts (I don't think it does). I do have a friend who does work in a library, and she continually freaks out over the rather weird people patronizing her facility--or working there. I actually learned about it in the context of my aforementioned friend recommending the comic to her.

I'm guessing she works at a public library.

I used to have an exclusive cinematic relationship with one of my friends in high school. Then I told her I thought we should see other people and she said, you're DUMPING me? At BREAKFAST?!? And I told her, no, we could still go to the movies together, but that I wanted to be able to go to the movies with other people too.

Sigh. High school was so intense.

High school was so intense.
I can only imagine.

It's not that I demand an exclusive relationship; just don't tell me you'll wait to see a movie with me and then see it without me, prior to our engagement. And DON'T refuse to see it with me at all afterwards.
