I was talking with Ali John earlier about Zadie Smith, which led to 20-something writers, which led to The Devil Wears Prada. I don't know how many of you have read the book and/or seen the movie. I didn't read the book, but I did see the movie, and the article you posted is so accurate it hurts. I didn't like the movie very much, because of what's described by Traister. Why is it that both in film and in life, women are expected to be perfectly ethical and 'feminine'? The main character is ridiculously aggravating, overly-critical and self-important goody-goody who's foolish enough to judge her boss based on the rules in her little girlscout handbook. I don't even know how the boss puts up with her.

I've also read Zadie Smith. I didn't 'like' her first novel per se, which, if it makes any sense, means that it was really good and that I enjoyed it.
