[The young emperor smiles watching the dream. He knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that this must be after his death and it comforts him to see a smile on her face, to see her so happy and carefree. Her smiles are few and far between, but he can always tell when she is happy whether she has a smile on her face or not.
He knows that, once they leave Somarium, it won't be long until he can no longer experience these things with her. So, he sighs. The dream is painful to watch, despite having brought a smile to his face. He calmly places the Dreamberry on his desk and makes his way toward her room, not bothering to knock once he reaches the door.]
Isn't that what a shield is for? Isn't it meant to protect somebody when they've let their guard down? Isn't it designed to be strong when the warrior feels as if he has no fight left in him?
[A small sigh]
Try to stay away from those sleep comas. They really make things difficult on me.
And that's what I've done. Since that day. There is no one in this world who knows you the way I do.
And no one will remember you the way I will. I'll protect you even then, it's generous, isn't it.. [ she stares him full in the eyes. she will keep you with her. she won't let herself forget you, even after the centuries stack on her shoulders again. regardless of what they were, friends, accomplices, something deeper, more intimate--she'd remember. ]
Anyway, I don't think I can avoid the sleep coma pitfalls as much as the next person. But we'll see.
[His eyes hold their gaze on hers, something they've done more times than he could possibly count in the past two years. He doesn't let his eyes stray, keeping his focus on the witch, his fingers still wrapped tightly around hers own.]
Never did in my wildest dreams did I expect somebody to make such an impact in my life and change me as much as you did. I'm so exposed when I'm with you and I don't know if I'll ever get used to that feeling... I can't hide anything from you. You're right, nobody knows me like you do. You always see through my lies, even the smallest, most insignificant ones.
[He leans a bit closer.]
Shouldn't you be able to avoid those things? [A smirk] You're C.C., after all.
[she holds the gaze calmly, her gold eyes softer than they were the first time they met. who knows how those eyes will look in another year? softer still? wouldn't it be interesting to see how human she might be in another two years..
she can't help but smile quietly at the confession, hiding her secretely pleased expression with a slight smirk. ]
There's little point in keeping on a mask all the time, or you'll forget why you were lying in the first place, no? It's rare for me to hear you admit it so easily.
[a quiet tilt of the head as he leans closer, cheek brushing shoulder. ]
I imagine I'd have better luck than the rest of you, yes. But shouldn't you know the answer to that by now?
There's no need to decorate my words with theatrics when I'm with you. You know what I'm saying despite how I phrase it, so why waste my breath? Captivating words and dramatic speeches are never necessary between the two of us, they're not even necessary in Somarium for the time being.
[Lelouch brushes some hair off of his accomplice's face and smiles]
Don't get used to me saying things so openly and easily, though. This is a rare occurrence, after all.
I won't hold my breath. After all, they don't need to be always said, isn't that right? [the fingers through her hair feel nice, and she leans in a little, almost like a cat. she says to him very quietly, with closed eyes:]
I was smiling.
[in the dream. after the Requiem. (No, I wept. But there was smiling too. ) ]

Have a good nap?

I'd like to see you smile more often. You've plenty of things to smile about in Somarium, after all.

Unfortunately, I know that all too well. You're C.C., after all.
