DREAM -- and you can tell the sun in his jealous sky

Warnings: None!
Affects: A sense of peace.

Blue sky. Endless sky. It’s the sort of sky you want to have over you like a warm blanket, that stretches as deep and warm as the green grassy fields beneath it.

The cart isn’t the comfiest thing, nor is it the classiest, it’s wheels occasionally catch on a pebble or stone in the dirt road and it ratchets occasionally, veering to the left or right, but it’s enough right now. The sun is warm and her arms make a pretty nice cushion for her head.

A girl is asleep in the back of the cart, a red hat falling off the back of her head and showing the long braid snaking around her frame and vanishing into the thick coating of hay. She stirs sleepily, her eyes taking in the deep blue sky. Against her hip is a yellow plushie, one you might have seen her carrying around when she was awake. It seems set on staying close to her, as she continues to stare.

Her clothes are shabby, there's hay in her hair, but she just doesn't seem to mind.

"Hey," She calls over her shoulder, as the man driving the cart pauses, glancing over his own shoulder as the horses continue their steady clop-clop on the dirt road. "You don't have an idea where we're going, do you?" She asks lightly. The man snorts, laughing at her. "You said you didn't care where we were going, miss. "

To which she pauses, and smiles a little. "Ah, I suppose I did say that. " The man continues, "Anyway, things in the world are kind of new right now, right? Seems a weird time to travel..don't you have somewhere to go?"

"I did for a while." She replies, continuing to smile her small little smile as she fingers the folded, pink paper-crane in her palm, lifting it up into the sky, held back by her fingers. "But not anymore and besides, I think it's time I wandered again. Like you said, things are new. But I don't really know where I'm going." She added thoughtfully.

The blue sky suddenly clouded with images of newspapers, fluttering in the breezes. In the sky, various objects floated down. A purple brocade and a black cape, a tulip-shaped mask, a single bandaid folded like a ring. Beautiful white robes and photographs. C.C. could hear the wind carrying voices, some familiar, some not so much, some dearly thought of, others not so much.

The cart-driver had one duty, and that was to move forward on his path, so what did these floating objects mean to him? These strange itemswho had no value to him.  He'd chosen his path. C.C. looked down at the pink crane in her hand, tilting her head.

"So, do you mind? Not knowing." He asked again.

The girl fingered a pink crane in her hands, her braid curling over her shoulder until it lost itself in strands of hay. A happy, warm smile was creeping it’s way onto her face, a smile of peace and contentment, her eyes crinkling as she laughed, the same happy color as the sun.

“I can’t say I do.” And she tossed the pink crane into the air, and it’s wings suddenly flared out of it’s body, flapping up into the sun, clearing the sky up until it was a beautiful, perfect, empty blue..

“But I really hope wherever it has pizza soon..”
The cart driver shook it’s head. “Miss, we’re in the country you know, “
But she only laughed, the bright laughter fading into pieces of warm sound and shining images of light as the dream ended.
