last day of summer

Today is the last official day of summer. For the most part we have been enjoying beautiful weather although one day this week it was decidedly cool so I ended up wearing a hoodie when I walked Maggie. The nights are cool and we've had frost. We've bumped up the thermostat as our house takes a while to heat with the in-floor heating. It will be ( Read more... )

I haven't been in LJ very much of late. Congratulations on the successful LASIK surgery. I'm too chicken to try it. I have an astigmatism also and wear progressive lenses. I'll stay with my glasses & take them off for close reading(tiny print is becoming a challenge at times.)
It's a challenge getting a wardrobe after losing weight. I lost about that much too. I mostly wear jeans,t-shirts, turtlenecks. I need to replace some XL tops for L tops. Glad you can sew some dresses for yourself.
Good thoughts on your husband's surgery. My MIL had a hip replacement done the biggest thing was making sure you obey the rules(no crossing of legs) and do your exercises. He'll be fine. It will be strange for you both to be home together for that long but it will be nice too.

Thank you for the good thoughts for Hubby. He's been doing his exercises prior to surgery and never crosses his legs...I think it's more of a female thing. He often has to remind me to uncross my legs.
Hubby brought back some beautiful fabric from his last overseas tour, about 8 years ago. I tucked it away because I didn't want to sew something the size I was. I'll have to practice on some easy projects as my skills are pretty rusty. I mainly do mending on the grandkids stuff these days.

30 lbs down is fantastic and corrected vision, too. You must feel like a new woman.

I hope hubby has a clean surgery and recovers in top form. It's nice that he has planned ahead for snow blowing and such. Men seem to take longer to heal because they grow impatient with resting. Good luck to you both.

Have a nice week.

Maybe I'm going through a mid-life thing. I have to admit it's fun shopping for new clothes.
I plan to be bossy and keep him in line. Thankfully he loves to read so hopefully he will be content to take things easy.

Sounds like the LASIK surgery went well, I could probably benefit from it, but I am too chicken to do so. I have my distance glasses and my reading glasses. I have the multifocal contacts and I absolutely love them. I do need to get a new pair of glasses (progressives) though.

30 Lbs. WOW. I haven't done any sewing other than mending in quite a while.

I hope your hubby's surgery goes well and that he heals well.
