Heh. But after all, the theme of the 'companion' snapshots was the Doctor giving them (or seeing them get) second-best, so it does make sense in a way that perhaps he was trying to give Jack a new Ianto. And I think they do look similar in a way - they both have that same sort of sad, babyish face.
That said, I thought that bit was particularly rubbish anyway. *g*
Maybe a similarity, but they certainly don't look the same! The hair colour's wrong for a start! I'm very particular about hair colour. Oh and cheekbones. And don't get me started on skull shape...
I have to admit my favourite bit about that 'goodbye' was the bar - echoes of both Mos Eisley and Milliways there.
They're saying what now? That Uncle Rusty is deliberately rubbing Janto fans noses in it by giving Jack a Ianto substitute who even looks the same. That is where I ended up with a serious case of whatthefuckery and stopped reading for the sake of my sanity.
It's the reason why I kind of creep round the edges with forays into the mainstream occasionally. I do not want to be stressed out by the attitude of people over something which is supposed to be entertainment.
You now get the idea why I avoid many Torchwood comms - they are full of batshit crazy people! Usually I ignore them, but this particular gem took the biscuit.
I have to admit I did feel like I'd lost a friend when they killed off Ianto, as well as feeling betrayed to an extent, and I felt so much *more* could have been done with that scene in EoT II if it had been approached differently, but this is Uncle Rusty who is renowned for messing with people's heads and with his characters.
I'm not on any TW comms, or any really active comms. I think I must stay away from 'those' kinds of people. Seriously. It seems I only get into fandoms after the craziness is over.
Yeah. Seems like RTD is all about 'the story' as he sees fit, and to hell with making fans happy.
Do you think he left Torchwood in the state it's in because he knew he was moving on? And that JB wants to move on too?
As for EoT II, I had an 'aw, sweet' reaction to the Jack and Alonso moment. BUT, I'm coming from the POV of never having seen Jack interact w/10. I didn't get the feeling that 10 was giving Jack a 'consolation prize.'
Oh, well. Must get into an active fandom, I guess. So far, Highlander and ST XI are pretty quiet. Or I'm just not getting it. Lalala

Not real. No matter how much they are loved.
Write what YOU will, but no matter how much you bloody like it, they belong to the BBC.
Good god, people!
Sorry. Rant over now.
