a couple of days ago i saw this vid by captain_sam and went "oh my god check out those boots".

this afternoon someone posted a casey drabble which started out fine, until it got to the last line and just completely slammed the poor girl, again, like everyone does.

before dinner i posted to my lj a revelation about the scene at the end of serendipity, and olivia's resulting sexuality.

i come back from dinner and you've a) written casey in a way that makes me want to marry you, b) completely gone "fuck you" to mariska's playing of that scene, and c) written the boots.

yay you!

i love this piece. i love your casey. i love the boots. i love the imagery and the personality and the character. i've only seen a couple of eps of casey, so i don't know how the character develops, but i *love* that you're writing casey from a point of view that's not completely slagging her.

which is kinda something you had to do for the person requesting it, but nonetheless, you do it well *g*

I know! My best friend and I always scream when we see them. "Oh my God, they are so inappropriate!" But I give her the benefit of the doubt and say she knows it...I hate when people slam her for every little thing.

Ooh, do I get a ring? I like white gold.

Well thank you! I don't really have a good idea of her as a character yet, either, so this story was a complete guesswork kind of thing. All I know is she has an entire wardrobe of impulse buys, she wears knee-high boots to work, and she really doesn't seem happy; I had never thought of her much beyond that. And now here she is. And I kind of like her.

"Oh my God, they are so inappropriate!"

hee, i was more like "ok, i don't care how annoying and incompetent she may prove to be, i'd sleep with her solely on the basis of those boots" *g*
i also, i must say, thought "ok, anyone who has the guts to wear those boots to court is either really fucking stupid, or really fucking cool." and since i was sick of everyone bagging her, i decided it made her really fucking cool. *g*

is that an acceptace? whoo! *presents ring of white gold*

Well...I kind of think it's really fucking stupid, but that she knows it and she still does it, all like "Whatever, I'm going to make an ass of myself anyway." I sense a lot of self-loathing in Casey. But that's cool. In a way. LOL.

Oh hell yeah! Is there a diamond, too? *inspects*

Ugh, god, this is why I love you.

I didn't think it was actually possible for me to find a reason to want to smother Casey with my everlasting praise, but I believe that the reason has just been air-lifted to me.

I don't even know what to say. You've made an honest C/O shipper out of me. Good freakin' work.

Dude, 8 years later and this is still one of my favorite SVU fics. I remember reading this so very early into Casey's appearance and I carried this characterization of her with me until I stopped watching (um, 2009ish?)

Anyway, just wanted to show a little love. <3

I still hate Casey, despite what other people commenting have said. This makes me hate her even more, because her ugly, inappropriate boots got her in Olivia's bed. EVIL BOOTS! LOL.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. :)

Bad Casey! BAD!

I still don't like her either. I kind of like my Casey. But I don't at all like the show's Casey.

Maybe tomorrow we can spit on a rock where Casey has been?

HAHAHAHAHAHA! YES! And we can bite our thumbs in her general direction, too.

I love how you have Casey talking about the Twin Towers. And I love that she used them to orient herself. Neat idea.
She meant to ask how they dealt with it, but instead she found herself asking how they had sex. Olivia got a little less chilly, and here was the truth: she didn't. Half the men disgusted her, and the other half were disgusted by her. I liked reading that part because I just watched that episode yesterday and I love when I know what people are talking about, haha. I've seen all of seasons 1 and 5, because of the DVDs, and I've seen all of season 6 so far... but the middle three seasons are a bit iffy for me. So I like knowing what people are talking about.
I like Casey sometimes... Like I was watching an episode and I was like, dude, PROPS Casey, PROPS. And then a few minutes later I was like... Mannn, UNPROPS, Casey, UNPROPS. Haha. *shrugs* She's okay sometimes. Definitely not my favorite, though.

Yeah, embarrassingly enough, that idea came from the fact that I get lost coming out of the subway all the time.

ROFL. You sound exactly like my best friend. We spend every Tuesday night yelling at Casey.

Do you live in NYC?

Haha, it was seriously amusing, though, because I actually was sitting there by myself watching it and I said it outloud. "Unprops, Casey, unprops." Good times, haha.

I cannot WAIT for the next new episode.

No, but I'm close enough to take day trips and intern there next semester. Which basically means I ride the subway enough to know what riding the subway is like, but not enough to actually be good at it.

ROFL, I just love the word "unprops," too. That is totally something my best friend would say.

When IS the new episode? It should be coming soon, right?

I've read this before. It's been recommended to me. Maybe because it was Casey/Liv in a time when that was unheard of. Maybe because of its darkness, because everyone knows that's what I love. Maybe it's because I just missed the ficathon when I became an SVU fan.

Regardless, I remembered it from the first line. The boots. Yes. The twin towers metaphor. God.

I thought I'd left feedback before, but I didn't see it in the ficathon or your private journal, so, oops?

You've captured Casey's impertinence and reflected it into something I like in her. Half-fear, half-bravado. I may have read this when I was studying Casey-voice.

Casey closes the folder they were working over and looks down. She is dying to know what exactly was different.

Man, I have been there.

She can see the lines around her eyes. Without thinking, she reaches out to push Olivia's hair back, and without thinking, Olivia leans her forehead on Casey's hand. She yawns. "Tired?" Casey asks, ruffling her hair.Jesus, that's sexy. And so natural. I like your Olivia, ( ... )

Hee. Is there a "Novak 101" class? First lesson: Why Casey wears lime-green suits with purple t-shirts.

Jesus, that's sexy. And so natural. I like your Olivia, too. ;) And I hardly ever like Olivias.

Thank you. :) This is probably my least-nice Olivia, but I love her all the same.
