"And I... I always intended to come back, Zalbag." It was true; she had planned to return home, after she was through helping Ramza, but... well. She never had that chance. She hadn't even been able to say goodbye.
Alma rested her head on Zalbag's shoulder. He was alive. And now, with this shadow out of the way, she could finally begin to enjoy her new life here, with her family. "I could not be happier to have you back. I missed you, brother."

Izlude waited a while longer, truthfully alarmed at first when he saw the double disappear into a cloud that entered Zalbag's body, then finally sheathed his sword. He couldn't pretend to fully understand what had taken place. Fears and doubts had somehow gained a physical form, but acceptance had been the key to defeating that "monster"?
That was how it seemed - and that was a reassuring thought. It was human to fear and doubt, no matter how strong a person was. Acknowledging these and facing them, not denying their existence, was the right thing to do and the way to fight one's inner demons.
Not for the first time, Izlude wondered if his father's Stone had sensed something and used that to seize a hold over Vormav, until there was nothing left of the man he had once been. But there was no one to turn to for the answer, was there?
Perhaps it was wrong to think about it at all, to hope that was the case... His father hadn't been a weak-willed man lacking in faith. But any other answer ( ... )

Honestly, he didn’t need anything like that. He just liked having his ego stroked sometimes.
