Since I described everything I don't like about various online interaction tools, what if I own up to what I actually would like.

But first, a word about pictures. I forgot to mention in my previous post, and bohemianspirit reminded me, that one of the best things about LJ is the choice of user icons with each post. I love that little 100x100 pixel expression ( Read more... )

Answer to your request: Wordpress.

I'm still learning how to use all of the features, but all of what you want is available. It's not in a "point and click for idiots" format, so there will be a learning curve, but it's all there.

Oh God, not that I'm implying you're an idiot -- just that if I'm having some bumps in the tech process I know you will.

Also, I need sleep so badly, I want to cry.

Would you like me to help you set up a ministerial presence for yourself at WP? We could make an afternoon of it, say at Panera, with free internet and yummy sandwiches.

Like has been said. Wordpress really fits everything you want. The only drawback is its a little more complicated to set up than, say, blogger or google pages.

To give you an example of the power of WordPress, maybe visit http://www.jonathancoulton.com/

He has a blog, embedded videos and pictures, a database of other people's uploaded content, streaming music--this website was what I first thought of when you listed everything you wanted to do. If its really what you want, maybe its worth slowly working through the process of setting it up, especially with the help of others.
