I couldn't be with someone if they did that to me. You deserve better--you deserve respect and honesty. That really isn't asking a lot. What he did just goes to show that maybe he isn't over his ex and that he isn't mature enough to talk things through with you. Relationships are hard work and take daily maintenance. They are also far from perfect most of the time.
The key to moving on is to give yourself time and to put space between you and your ex. Keep in mind that if you did get back together with him, you would probably just be paranoid all the time because of what he did in the past and that's not a healthy start if you guys got back together.
Stay busy, spend time with friends, keep a journal, and don't contact your ex.
