Right now, what I will probably always consider "my first pumpkin pie" is in the oven. I have made many, many pumpkin pies before today, but never have I had to make them from actual pumpkins - ie not from cans. It was a lot of work (and if you think parsnips are hard to chop, pumpkins will make you sad: my fingers were trembling terribly after

That's...probably true XD I'm adding that to the list of reasons I really need to own it. Its level of ridiculous cannot be ignored!

Way cool on pumpkin pie. :-) Next time, try scooping out the seeds, oil a baking sheet, lightly oil the outside of the pumpkin and roast it like you would a squash. After it's tender, remove and mash the pulp, let it cool, and voila! you have your pumpkin puree for your pie. No chopping. :-)

Oooh, that sounds much easier! I'll definitely try that next time :D I also seem to have forgotten that there are different pumpkins for pies, which explains why the pie wasn't as sweet as I might have liked - it was still pretty delicious, though!
