I am doing Bella's favorite thing EVER, where she drapes herself across my wrists and lets me keeess her head as long as I keep up the chin scratchies.

Fairly productive weekend on the Project That Dominates This Journal. With regyt's absolutely vital help, I made 18 felt skins yesterday that seem like they'll actually work, after two abortive batches ( Read more... )

Mmm, pastels. You can use oil pastels with encaustics, y'know. Yummy yummy encaustics.

Tru dat. Plus, oil pastels on their own are messy-but-sexy.

Hmmmmmmm. I have soft pastels (not oil pastels.) I am right tempted to try oils, or soft with some sort of binder. The problem with oil pastel is that I want both the option of transparency/wash behavior and the option for gut-punching POWARRRRRR in color saturation.

What do your doodads know about their neighbours?

Identity?
Distance?
Their own orientation?

With just distance, they can all figure out where they are.
Then they can figure out their velocity.

Could do the same if they knew the direction to each neighbour.

You can do distance things with pings and packet arrival order.

Can you make them squeak if you pick them up?

I'm jealous of your project. I would have so much fun with it. What are you making them do?

Squeaking could happen! No plans for a speaker in this revision, but it's a big circuit board.
