Tired. Augh. AUGH. I was on the 6:45am train from Newark this morning. I got about two things done today, not including ogling personal tech upgrades. Tomorrow's another day ( Read more... )

Lenovo, I'm telling you. (Though even they aren't doing as much with the screen resolution as they ought.)

Oh yeah, thanks, I couldn't remember what you had.

It's on the list. I am biased towards Apple, but not completely a minion of Steve, I swear...

Lenovo had reliability ratings in the same range, last time I looked, and was the *only* other company that did.

As long as they work better than the lenovo travel mug I have, which just does not seal tightly and dribbles no matter what I do. I _love_ that mug though.

Hey, you might want to get either Jungle Disk or MobileMe/iDisk as something to do a network backup of your machine, while you're still making these hardware decisions and as an additional source of backup. Jungle Disk won't do the cool stuff Time Machine does with iDisk, but it will just stash a copy of everything you want to save in Amazon S3 space, and paying for it once gives you lifetime upgrades and copies of the software wherever you want including on a flash drive. It might just make you breathe easier? I don't know but I thought I'd mention it.

While I will probably never go past the level of "hobbyist" on the art/graphics front, I absolutely love my Gateway M275 tablet. I have no idea how the resolution stacks up against the Cintiq, but I do know that I like doing sketches in the Gimp with it, and feel that I'm able to achieve quality comparable to what I can do on paper. (~grin~ Though perhaps that is more of a statement about what I can do on paper ( ... )

I wasn't considering buying the Cintiq by any means; they just had a floor model out at Tekserve. dymaxion has been impressing me with Sketchbook Pro on a tablet Lifebook for, like, two years now, so I am being swayed. I need to try one set up for a right-handed user. :)

BTW, I don't know whether you are still looking at online organizers, and I forget what was mentioned and what you were looking for, but I got a strong recommendation for Remember the Milk, and am considering using it for myself...
