I'm taking the cheap way out.
A little butane creme brulee torch for making chain and a larger propane (or mapp gas) plumber's torch for when I need more heat than the little one can provide.
But then I really like making ittty-bitty fiddly things (like chain mail with 1/4" ID jump rings.. though I'll not be doing that one again, there wasn't quite enough room in each link for all the other links to happily fit at the same time)
