Though I am a supporter of moving, the logistics of moving a journal based game to another site seem rather complicated. You would have to deal with the hassle of:

-Making sure all journals friend each other and are the proper ones
-Everyone importing their personal entries
-Icons being broken in said entries (due to DW's import function. It's a small thing, but it would happen)

Is there any talk of switching to a comm-based format? I'm just curious.

Even so, I'll go where the game goes, no matter what. --b

EDIT: ANOTHER QUESTION-

In the event that we do move, will we have the option of choosing different usernames for our characters?

Complicated, yeah. Staying here is also complicated, so it's like a choice of hassles! :D

In the event of a move, yeah, you could change usernames? I was thinking that everyone could post to the friend add on DW if we move- so we could get a wholly updated list, which we could then update to every other list. Which is a hassle, but moving itself is a hassle, so. :x But once the whole adding list was together, everyone could friend add the fresh one.

But if you or anyone has better ideas of how to go about it, please suggest it. I'm thinking out loud, mostly.

And- I think there's been mention of moving to a comm-based format. My concern is, so much happens over journals- what do then?

We would probably have to make a sep journal or something for past game threads and ask people to import journals onto there one by one. That would be... Welp. XD

No, you make sense! Maybe a f-locked post to the OOC comm with everyone posting their DW usernames would solve that?

I will do my best to think of something! /o/

I'm not really understanding what you mean by "so much happens over journals"- I play at a comm-based game and it's more or less the same experience? What specifics are you talking about?

TICKY BOOOOOOX.

But yeah, As I am not having a horrible time with LJ right now (though I understand some people are, which sucks), I'm content to go wherever this amazing game goes. I love all of you guys and want to play with you forever, regardless of the platform.

I mean to click both the move and the I WILL GO WHEREVER THIS SHIP GOES, but I forgot to click the second one so WHATEVER.

But I think it would be best to move at this point, especially seeing that LJ is planning more changes that will drastically change the site even more and I think it would just be less of a hassle to just move. But even if we don't move, I'll still be with AD. I AM STICKING TO THIS GAME AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP ME.

Though, like Hugga and a few others have said, maybe doing a comm based thing would help things in the transition? People obviously import journals to get previous stuff but we just build off from there in the comm or something. Though, if we stay with journal styled too that's fine. I'M COOL WITH EITHER STYLE OF PLAYING.

haha so I typed up a tl;dr post to this (like seriously a few pages long) before realizing that all I was doing was saying that this situation sucks from all over the place and that I'd try my best to follow you everywhere. I can't say my activity will be the same if we do move (and I do have some serious concerns about moving, but nobody can really help that), but I can promise that I'll try.

/wants your tl;dr ;~;

But it does suck from every direction. But if there's anyway we can help with concerns- that's what we're here for?

I'm not happy with LJ- not because they're omgevilcompany!! but because they're putting us in a position where we're guaranteed to lose, stay or transfer. .__.

This. I can deal with either/any site. But if a game moves, not everyone will move with it. If a game stays, not every player will stay. Some people will be lost either way, and people are pretty much what I'm here for. :/

IT'S UNHAPPY TL;DR OKAY. But basically, copy/pasted-

I personally would like to try to see if lj gets any better- it's only been a week, and I realize that it doesn't seem like it will change back, but moving websites entirely so soon seems extreme, I guess? Though I suppose you guys are already doing that with the wait time for the poll. I appreciate that.

At any rate, I suppose I'm worried about a few things. Firstly, the importing of LJ to DW. From what I've played around with so far, the import feature seems very limited and the lack of icons affected the overall mood of the threads, and made rereading them awkward. This probably doesn't affect most people because lol I'm weird and I reread threads in my spare time, but it's something that really bothered me, especially if player posts and logs would be imported and considered game canon. If Ads did move, I would feel like I'm losing a lot (in both threads themselves, comment counts, and of course, paid time that has yet to expire). I'm also concerned with everyone ( ... )

WAIT I FORGOT TO PUT THIS IN MY LAST COMMENT supermistfrog December 30 2011, 09:16:30 UTC
LJ is planning an entire site redesign (clicking around will show more of the changes), and it's looking increasingly likely that they won't roll back these changes. Even with the custom comment pages on, there are issues. A bug that tends to happen with custom comment pages is that they break when the post reaches over 500 comments, as it did here (this is an S2 issue, not just my style issue). So it's either we can't have long posts such as these, or have to deal with the new comment system.

So, the storm's not really going to end, if you're looking at it from a site design perspective.
