As far as population density goes, there's about five NPCs to every played character. The NPCs inside the city can be interacted with in various ways, but don't really have much information. They're civilians, pulled over from their own original worlds.

Is it possible for an NPC to be from your character's world, and therefore recognize them if said character is something of a celebrity? Also, how far can one go with NPCs? Should they just be mentioned as a passing thought almost entirely, or could you do something like having an NPC roommate, give a particular NPC a basic personality, and maybe even a name?

Coal is still around, here and there, along with barbecue-esque briquettes. Every now and then, it's possible to stumble across a couple of batteries, but that's rare, and only a few.

Should you seek mod permission in general for any of these things, or just for batteries, or...?

Many of the scientists will talk to characters; they're starting to look beyond their walls a bit. Some are friendly. Some are not. Sometimes the ( ... )

No. The worlds are their own, original. Interaction with NPC people in the town is casual and passing, they're not going to develop or become original characters. They can be killed, they can be casually chatted with, they can be bartered with. They won't be friends or helping or harming.

---

Coal and briquettes require no permission, they can be found. Batteries would probably need permission, anything else would as well.

No. The Scientists and Soldiers are played in every interaction to control what information gets out/what gets said. They also have distinct personalities. Contact with a guard needs a mod running the guard.

Just jumping in here, sorry, to add this:

NPC=non playable character. They're like...Non playable Original Characters with a kind of nondescript status. They are people in the crowd, to fill in the background of the world our characters play in. Extras, like in a film. All of the playable characters are the stars.

Therefore, you cannot give them any more than a passing interaction (like bumping into them, killing them, watching them scream in terror before Godzilla steps on them, something that doesn't require much interaction). If you have to give them thoughts/opinions/ideas or personality, then they become playable, and we cannot allow someone to unofficially control extra characters in that manner (extra being someone they didn't app).

Playable character's pets are the exception as pets do not speak or do much more than act, so you can interact with your pet and create their actions, though your pet can not talk...or they become a character unto themselves too.

How plausible is it for something like an empty store of say, tea and coffee, to show up before it's raided and then vanishes? No staffers, just the materials.

Very plausible. It happens fairly often, actually. This is how a lot of dry good are gotten.

There are cars, motorcycles, mopeds, etc. around the city, but the condition of each vehicle is varying and the biggest issue would be finding fuel to keep them running.

Basically, looking to get 'Fonsy to fix up a little motorbike and get it running. But, yes, fuel.

Two things.

1) So, I get that liquid fuel itself is hard, if not impossible, to come by (gasoline, propane, and the like are not findable). But are the base components of any sorts of fuel kicking around maybe? I mean, rockets ≠ motorcycles, but is there any way that I could get Alfons into making up some sort of fuel source? H-He's a liquid fuel rocket engineer, he knows how, he can most likely do it with his eyes closed, let alone without needing to read anything, so. Are the base materials there, if he digs/stumbles across it? 'Cause long term, that could help the city as a whole, too. Even if it would kill his lungs even more, derp.

Barring that...

2) Adstringendum is modern, 2008... Any chance that he'd find an old, broken up electric vehicle laying ( ... )

1) Forgive me, I'm not a rocket scientist. What components/base materials are you looking for?

2) A scooter is probably feasible. You said motorcycle, and I can't think of any motorcycles that are electric? But scooters are. He'd have to put it together again and charge it in a place that does have electricity, yes. Probably somewhere someone is living, so he can know that the wiring's been checked and won't blow him halfway across the house or something.

1) Poked around, and I'm liking the looks of plan #2 better, so.

2) Electric motorcycle? Was made in 2008, I believe. And God no, he won't use it at top speed, even if the roads weren't crap and it wouldn't kill him. And as amusing as the image of Alfons flying across the room and getting zapped is, yes, he will be a good boy and make sure to charge it in a safe place.

PS: I love how speedy you guys are at answering questions on these pages ♥

2) Oh hey. It DOES exist. That's pretty cool. And that's fine. Just remember it'll take some time to find all the pieces that he will need and you're good to go. :D

PS: I stalk. Like a sneaky stalky person.

The character I just apped gets more powerful depending on the moon, so I was wondering: how big are the moons compared to ours?

Reply

heavenlykunai July 4 2010, 03:34:40 UTC
There are two moons. The white one is smaller than our own, and the green one is ever-so-slightly larger.

The full moons for the rest of the year are on:
7-26
8-10
9-1
9-21
10-8
11-3
11-14
12-16
12-22

I should have 2011 written up before too long, too.

So similarly, this dude has moon linked problems. Are the two lunar cycles synced up? That is are there times when there are two full moons, or two new moons?

I don't necessarily need dates or anything, just if they occur and about how often.

Sorry about the delay in this. ;~; But yes- each moon has its own cycle, and occasionally they sync up like that.

There are dates for them I can dig up if you do need them, though!
