Well it was still worth the effort. He smiled when Riku moved to wrap his arms around him. He settled his hand over Riku's and leaned his head back a little, still staring at the snow. It really was beautiful. Seeing the snow like this, clean and unbroken, it felt like the world was wrapping itself in a thick fluffy blanket and tucking itself in for the night. He'd never get nights like this back home. Maybe that was why the snow seemed so magical to him now. It would be something he missed when he eventually found his way back to the islands ( ... )

Sora did his best not to giggle because of the strange proximity. Instead he just reached out and put a hand on Riku's leg and closed his eyes, kissing the fruit shaped toy as well. As ridiculous as this felt, he still liked the premise behind it and if Riku believed it then it must mean that it wasn't entirely stupid.

But that didn't stop him from pushing the fruit down after a second or two of fruit kissing to do a little Riku kissing of his own. He was realizing that he really liked this whole kissing business, especially like this. He wasn't sure if the whole getting goosebumps thing was normal so he just left that little bit unsaid.

"Well if you believe it then that must mean I'm not entirely childish for believing it too."

And then the present was being replaced with Sora's lips pressing against his own and he sighed softly, kissing back easily and with more intensity than he had before, pulling away a couple of moments later, eyes fluttering open to take the sight of the other it. "I believe in you." The papou fruit had long since been forgotten, dropping down between them as the hand that had been holding it lifted, pushing a lock of hair away from Sora's face, but cupping his check, thumb rubbing over his bottom lip. "I don't need a papou fruit to know our hearts are connected."

He was pretty sure that it wasn't possible for Riku's kisses to be any more breath-taking but each time he did something like that he was reminded about how wrong he could really be. But that was kind of embarrassing on both counts so he wasn't going to mention either of those out loud. He wouldn't want Riku laughing about something so...personal. Would he even laugh? He wasn't sure. Either way, better not chance it.

At those words though his heart skipped a beat. Hadn't he always said the same thing? That their hearts were connected? It felt somehow different this time, like it meant something different, but the same at the same time. He rested his cheek into Riku's palm and just settled with smiling softly.

"Of course our hearts are connected." He turned his head to plant a kiss on Riku's palm, "But you better not lose that fruit, you hear me?" His soft smile definitely turned playful.

"I won't." He still had a stuffed sheep that Queen Katherine had made for you during the summer, Sora. It rested on his bed near the pillows where the cats could get it, out of reach of dirt or spills, and he washed it by hand every couple of weeks, making sure it was kept clean. He wasn't going to let anything happen to a gift that you gave him, Sora, just like he won't let anything happen to your necklace ( ... )

"Good." Sora leaned into the kiss just a little bit but rested when Riku pulled away. He could definitely get used to this. He wondered how other people in the house would feel if they saw them being lovey-dovey. Maybe it was something they should keep private, at least for a little while. He wouldn't want to make the people they lived with feel uncomfortable. Besides, Sango still lived with them. He didn't want to hurt her feelings.

He tried his best to contain some of his excitement when Riku handed him the present. He could do his best to hide it from his posture but he couldn't hide it from his eyes and that was enough for the smile on his face to steadily grow into a grin as he accepted the gift from Riku. However, he didn't tear into it with reckless abandon. Paper was precious and they might need it for something else later.

He set the paper down when he finished unwrapping the box and looked up at Riku, albeit a little nervously, before opening the box to reveal what was inside.

He watched, more than a little amused at how carefully Sora removed the paper. Neatly enough so that it would even probably be able to be reused. And considering the way Sora usually ripped into presents, not really caring how shredded the paper became was a sign that he was adjusting to the way of life here. Riku felt a sense of relief wash through him. The city was a difficult place to life, and people either adapted or broke, and he knew from experience that breaking usually came before adapting. Maybe, if he was lucky, Sora wouldn't suffer that same fate.

Inside the box, carefully cradled in tissue paper was a pendant hung on a thick chain, one that would hold up to the wear and tear that Sora was likely to put it through. It had taken him and Josh hours to find something suitable, but the moment he did, he knew it was perfect ( ... )

Sora held the heavy necklace in his hands and stared at it as Riku talked. Now he was kind of glad that he decided to give Riku his own necklace. Wearing both that one and this one at the same time wouldn't work well at all. He looked up from the pendant just in time to see Riku touch the crown he had given him. He unclasped the hook and put the chain around his neck. It took him a couple of seconds to reclasp it without being able to see, but he managed. The chain was a good length as well as sturdy, not too long that the pendant would disappear under his shirt but not too short that it would be too tight around his throat either ( ... )

"I was wondering if you were ever gonna catch on." The amusement was clear in his voice as the other moved forward, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and bringing their cheeks together. Taking a deep breath he lifted his arms, one wrapping around shoulder chest and the other wrapping around his waist, pulling him closer until he was practically in his lap. He let out a small sigh of contentment, the warmth of the other's presence calming, comforting in a way that so little else was. He allowed the question to hang between them for a few moment, before taking another deep breath and letting it out on a soft sigh, pulling away just enough to shift, burying his head in the warmth of Sora's neck, lips pressing against the skin there softly ( ... )

"I'm not that slow!" He laughs a little bit when Riku pulls him closer and just gets comfortable. A shiver ran down his spine when Riku kissed his neck but he did his best not to show a reaction. He willed the now-present goosebumps away from his exposed skin and just did his best to relax in Riku's grip. So much for keeping an eye out for Riku trying to kiss his neck. Oh well. It wasn't that he didn't like it, it was just that it brought forth such a strong reaction. So maybe he liked it too much? Oh well. Details for later.

"I do too." He rubs his cheek against Riku's slightly, not wanting to pull out of their hug. It was warm and comfortable. He could definitely get used to this kind of thing. He wasn't sure how many times he was going to think something along those lines, but it just kept coming back up. He rested his chin lightly on Riku's shoulder and just stayed there. He'd let Riku pull away this time if he wanted, "I like this and I definitely wouldn't mind if it was official at all."

A small smirk crossed his lips as he felt the other shiver, pressing his lips gently against that same spot before moving to another, repeating the process there, and in the spot right next to it and in the spot right next to that, enjoying the reactions his own actions brought. His lips pressed against the other's pulse point before he pulled away, not completely, but enough so that he could look at the other, arms slipping down until his hands were able to rest comfortable on his hips, as if he was trying to hold him in place, even if he knew he wasn't going anywhere.

"I like you." The words came out easily, a play on the other's words. Sure, he liked this too, but what he really liked was Sora, and just being able to be with him. Just being in the same room was more than enough. They didn't always have to hold each other, just being near each other was enough for him. "And now I get to call you mine."

The more he kissed the less Sora was able to reign in his responses. By the end of he was flushed, his heart beating erratically in his chest. He was breathing a little heavier than he would have liked and he was pretty sure there was a gasp in there somewhere. Part of him was relieved when Riku pulled back. It gave him a couple seconds to breathe. He didn't pull away though. He didn't want to let go. He wasn't even sure he wanted to stop whatever it was that Riku was doing, but a little voice somewhere whispered to hold on, even if only for a little longer.

But at that he couldn't help but laugh a little, "I bet a lot of people are going to be totally jealous."

Riku matched the sound with a little laugh of his own. "Of which one of us?" Because he could still remember how the last time Sora was here, Hanna had been jealous of him for getting so much of Riku's time. And while he kind of doubted that would be the case now (and he was pretty sure the other was just teasing, anyway. Sora's ego was no where as big as his.) the thought and memory attached to it was still an amusing one.

"Of me, duh. Have you looked at yourself recently?" He tugged a bit of Riku's hair and laughed, "I bet no matter where we went people would think you were a catch." A catch he was lucky enough to have. Riku could have been so many other places right now but he was here with him. Instead of letting himself go down that thought path though he just grinned, "Although I'm not too bad if I may say so myself."

For a moment, all he could do was stare. He felt the other's fingers in his hair, tightening and tugging, and he heard the other's laugh, but he couldn't quite believe the words. He knew he was attractive. He could see it just by looking in the mirror. Couple that with how ever many people had told him so since arriving here? And you equaled the fact that his ego had grown even larger than it normally was ( ... )

You know that feeling when your brain totally deadpans and you can't manage to think a coherent thought no matter how hard you try? Because Sora is having one of those moments. He definitely made a couple different sounds trying to start a sentence in response but the touch combined with the words totally floored him.

Never in his entire lifetime had he ever expected to hear anyone tell him that they thought he was beautiful. Was beautiful even something someone should use to describe him? He just gaped for a moment or two before shaking his head. Yeah, he was definitely blushing. Then, master of words that Sora was, his next coherent words were just pure genius.

"Nu uh! I'm...plain."
