Ukitake had spent his morning trying to wake up and just generally be alive. He was still recovering from all of the bodyswapping that had happened, his lungs aching and easily irritated because of how people had not known how to breathe with damaged goods. It wasn't too bad, of course, and he hadn't started coughing up blood, so all things considered he was doing quite well ( ... )

It probably was a good idea to try and pull herself up, but Jinx just couldn't bring herself to. Her muscles weren't responding in their usual way, her head was spinning, and the snow was beginning to feel warm. What was so bad about just closing her eyes and letting herself drift off? It would be better to deal with all this when she hadn't already been up all night waiting for him to come home. So, just a little nap.

"Don't force yourself to speak or open your eyes if it hurts. I am not a healer, but you need immediate help. I'm going to do the best I can until I either call Unohana or take you to her myself, all right?" And without waiting for an answer, Ukitake held his hands over her body, gathering up and manipulating some of his reiatsu to act as healing kidou. As he said, he wasn't a healer, but kidou was one of his strong points and he did have a basic understanding of the first aid equivalent.

He hoped he could stabilize her and not wear himself out in the process.

Her eyes closed, holding a glimpse of the odd man with white hair in them. On a scale of one to out of her mind, this was more than likely a hallucination. She was probably still passed out in the snow somewhere. The man's words really weren't registering until he spoke a name ( ... )
