Usagi wasn't really sure how she hit this stroke of good fortune: her roommate in this rather alarmingly strange place was a(n incredibly) beautiful and graceful priestess. Really, she could have practiced in her room for hours to be just like her.

Funny how even living together for a year, something felt a bit strange about their relationship. Like there should be more to it. Like something made her want to know the other girl even more. This week, she was absolutely determined to do something about it; so, she popped in by Rei's room as soon as she could.

"Hey! Rei-chan!" Usagi still called her by that, of course. "Want to go out a bit today?"

Rei looked over from where she was sitting on her bed -- reading a book (the Bible, incidentally, or at least a Bible), which she quickly closed and pushed underneath a pillow.

"Usagi," Rei greeted, arching her eyebrows. "Sure -- what do you want to do?"

Usagi grinned, and brought a hand around from her back, clutching a small basket.

"Tada! It's a bit early, but we could check the gardens. I'll help pick anything that's ready!" After all, she couldn't ask the people here to pick up her slack; she had to do things for herself. But doing them together would make it a lot more palatable.

"There might be some potatoes," Rei said after a moment or two of thought, getting up to push herself up off of her bed, "but there's no harm in looking. Might as well get an early start on collecting if there is anything -- we can't afford to let any of it go bad."

They had mouths to feed, after all.

Sirius' roommates were really starting to freak him out. They really weren't making much sense in anything they said and Sirius, rather than sticking around, decided that it was time for a walk. So, without informing either Tonks or Remus, he set off into the Safezone.

He brought along the weird stick thing that he found that Remus told him not to lick. Sirius had no idea what the hell it was, though he would admit it was a nice looking stick and it made an excellent spoon. It sat in his back pocket in case he needed to fend off a hoard of rabbits by hitting them with it.

If only there was an attractive girl he could find somewhere.

Rei was picking through the library, when Sirius happened upon her -- Castiel liked books and she knew Hitsugaya had read every single thing he owed at least four times over, so it was the least she could do for two of her best friends -- to find more. There were sparse pickings, but she had found a few interesting ones that she was certain they would like.

Why she was friends with two nerds was beyond her, but. Hey. It worked.

Castiel was lost ( ... )

Rei was outside, on the steps of the Temple, eyeing the slowly appearing stars with interest. She was leaning back, resting her elbows on a higher step, relaxing for once -- or, really, waiting for Castiel to turn up. He was late and while Rei wasn't strictly concerned, she still wasn't content to go inside and go about getting ready to sleep until he was inside and out of harm's way. The idiot was a magnet for trouble. It was difficult to forget that.

The moons were beautiful tonight. Hm.

As the chill began to set in, Rei frowned to herself before sighing, pushing herself up to move to wait for the angel inside. She had just closed the doors when, a minute or so later, they blew open again to reveal Castiel. The girl looked somewhat startled before her expression set into a scowl.

"Where have you -- "

But how harried he looked made her pause with a frown, and she reached out a hand to signal that he take a moment to catch his breath.

"What's wrong?"

He ignored her signal entirely, answering her question immediately by carefully unwrapping part of his jacket enough to reveal the kitten. "What do we do?" If he were still an angel, he could have healed it with barely a thought. What the significance of his species was was lost on him due to the event, but he remembered his abilities while here before what happened in July, even if what had prompted what occurred that night was now so unclear and hazy.

She opened her mouth to berate him for ignoring her, until he offered the kitten. She blinked, startled, before she frowned, stepping closer to gently pet the tiny thing with a finger. It only took a moment or two before Rei gently slid her hand underneath the kitten to hold it herself, to bring it to eye-level. She contemplated asking where, exactly, he found the thing, but Castiel looked panicked and the kitten was freezing.

"We calm down," Rei said, her fingers gently massaging the kitten, her brow furrowing into a deeper frown, "and we keep it warm. It looks thin, too -- "

And Rei turned on her heel, still holding the kitten close to her, to move to the kitchen.

"Was it by itself?"

Ulquiorra was, by now, mostly recovered from his fight with Sephiroth but now...something else was off. Something was missing-what was he? It was clear he wasn't a human, he didn't even seem to be alive, but other than that...he didn't know. But he still remembered what he could do, and a quiet sound of static would announce his arrival behind Rei in the Temple.

"Hino."

A slight intake of breath as Ulquiorra appeared -- his energy familiar as always. She looked over her shoulder with a warm smile, turning around.

"Hey, Ulquiorra. You look a lot better."
