Inuyasha hadn't forgotten the challenge Sephiroth had mockingly given him. In fact, the steaming hanyou had stormed out as soon as the PCD was turned off.

It really didn't take him long to find the man. Even without knowing what the crazed man smelled like, it was easy enough just to follow the trails of smoke coming from the collapsed buildings. Leaping through the streets and over the rooftops of buildings, Inuyasha finally came within shouting distance of Sephiroth. He landed on the rooftop of a non-decimated building, one hand grasping the handle of his sheathed sword.

"Oi! You still lookin' for a fight, birdman!? Or have ya decided to chicken out already?!"

Oh god. Is this whole fight going to be bird and dog puns? argentimperator September 5 2011, 00:01:40 UTC
Sephiroth smirked darkly at Inuyasha and drew his sword, the overly long blade gleaming in his left hand. His wing flapped lazily as he descended a little closer to the hanyou's level.

"I'm more than prepared. Let's see how long it takes you to learn to heel."

Yes. And it will be the most awesome battle ever. twotimingmutt September 5 2011, 02:53:16 UTC
Fingers tightening around his own weapon, Inuyasha withdrew the Tetsusaiga from its sheath. Instantly the blade grew to its full size and was pointed at the hovering man.

"I'll make sure you'll never be able to use that wing again before that happens!"

Rather than leap up at Sephiroth, Inuyasha remained where he was, slashing his sword through the air. "WIND SCAR!" Instantly slashes of energy were flying through the air, aimed directly for Sephiroth.

mind if I join, y/n? Kurapica wants some fightin' too. 8| checkmychainyo September 5 2011, 03:26:56 UTC
[Kurapica is tired of being helpless to the whims of a powerful and evil group. He is reminded hatefully of the Spiders, and he will not allow that kind of terror to exist, to again strike disaster into the hearts of others, much less mold his own life. So its with a darkened attitude and a cold expression that he slinks toward Sephiroth. He have not yet met. Under normal circumstances, he may be a kind man. He may be extremely powerful. As of this moment, for once the chances don't matter. Kurapica needs to quell him.

So fists clenched, shadows harsh against his face, Kurapica comes in on the scene of Inuyasha and Sephiroth already beginning their battle. He doesn't know whether Inuyasha knows he's there; he doesn't care. Kurapica lowers into a battle-ready stance, and a dowsing chain materializes from his right hand, enhanced with Nen.]

I don't know whether this is a result of the mind-control. Regardless, if you plan to level the city and everything in it, I will fight you. Cease while you can!

Usagi couldn't leave it alone. This wasn't right. She hadn't forgotten the warnings early on: that once Sephiroth understood his past and future, it'd become dangerous.

But this wasn't what the aloof but typically benign man she knew would want.

So it was Sailor Moon running towards the area as soon as she saw Sephiroth high in the sky. Her own wings did not take to the air yet; she looked up at him instead.

"Sephiroth! What happened? This isn't like you've been before!"

"Happened?" Sephiroth looked down at her from above, a faint, disdainful smirk curving his mouth. There was something dark in his eyes that hadn't been there, or at least hadn't been visible, before, something inhuman and hateful.

"You wouldn't understand. All that 'happened' is that my ears have been opened to Mother's call. She is waiting for me, back in the world I came from. She cries out for her son to return to her."

Usagi, of all people, understands that pull of family and loved ones, which she assumed was all Sephiroth meant.

"I do understand! I understand how much you'd want to be with her. But this isn't the way, either. Doing this won't help you return! We need to work together so that we can all go back where we belong."

Bad assumption. Sephiroth gave her a mocking look as his wing beat lazily, somehow keeping him aloft.

"This is the way that Mother desires. She told me so. This world will end in fire and chaos."

The past few days had been irritating. Tiring as well, but the irritation was front most in his mind. He had spent much of it trying to keep those he cared about far away from the other, trying to convince them that he could, in fact, handle it. And those who he couldn't convince would suffer terrible consequences. Something that would weigh on his mind heavily ( ... )

Sephiroth settled to the ground a couple of yards away, his wing flapping lazily before folding in towards his shoulder. His aura reeked of darkness, the faint taint that had always been there now overtaking everything else. Despite the inhumanity, hatred, and malice that had Sephiroth in its her hold, there was still a clinging ghost of the feelings the older man truly had for Riku.

"It's good that you know better, then," he replied calmly, Masamune still sheathed at his side. "There is no 'away' here, only 'towards'. Towards Mother and the world I should be in. You could come with me. Mother would accept you with open arms and truly make you my brother."

"Mother, huh? Too bad for her my mother's back on Destiny Island." He knew it was probably in his best interest not to antagonize the other, but he couldn't help it. "You're my brother because I chose for you to be. I don't need Mother to cement it for me."

He took a few steps, watching the other carefully. At least his weapon was still sheathed, not drawn and ready to attack. "I know this isn't really what you want, Sephiroth. Let me help you get away from her."

"A human mother is beneath you, Riku. You deserve more. Mother would give you greater power. Nothing would be beyond our reach."

Yeah, the drama wasn't really all that much like the Sephiroth Riku was used to, was it? He gestured with one hand frustratedly as he began to pace.

"Why would I not want this? To go to the Promised Land with Mother, to rule as we were meant to from the beginning..."

Hiei, honestly, couldn't care less about all the chaos that was going on in the city. If someone wanted to demolish it, they could be his guest. As far as he was concerned, that would only make his job easier in the long run. But in the short run, working around the chaos would only be a pain. So here he was, out in the wastes with his sword drawn. There were several corpses of what appeared to be giant rats surrounding him, some sliced to bits, some charred and blackened, some even burned down to the skeleton. Hiei wasn't even winded. If anything, he was bored. These creatures were no match for him, and he was starting to think this was an utter waste of time.

Finding Sephiroth was easy. Follow the destruction, he would find his honorary brother. It didn't take long, flying high over the city, to find Sephiroth and his eyes briefly flashed red-anger, fear and anticipation combining to bring the Red Dragon dangerously close to the surface. But though he knew the Red Dragon had little chance of killing Sephiroth, he was still too close to the city to really open up, and the voice in the back of his head had just as little chance of getting out so close to population.

So, sword drawn and ready, he charged toward the taller man.

"Sephirooooooth!"

There was a clear ring of steel as Sephiroth drew Masamune and turned towards Jr's charge. A dark, amused smile curved his lips as he made a beckoning gesture with his other hand.

Come on, cousin. Entertain him.

"Lion's Ballad!"

With the shout, electricity crackled up along the length of the blade, ready to lance off and into his opponent at a moment's notice, either when the swing of his sword was stopped by something or when it missed.
