Characters: Everyone living in Casa de Exorcist. When: Sometime after this. Where: Outside of the Clinic & Bookstore. Rating: PG-13 for the language, no doubt. Summary: Practice lessons! A joy for all.
"C'mon you two," Shura instructs, already heading inside and towards the roof with her sword resting on her shoulder. Since neither of them had flames to speak of, practicing up there would be ideal. She already had a fair idea of how to start them; needless to say this wouldn't be her first time instructing beginners on the art of swordplay. She didn't so much as bat an eye at Shirou instructing Rin to follow him; neither did the roiling, contradictory feelings causing her gut to twist show on her face.
Grabbing one of the spare practice swords, he watches quietly as his father and brother walk off before following inside after Shura. His attention lands squarely on her back as she walks ahead, remembering their talk from the other day and the curiosity still running through his mind. A part of him did want to better understand just what had been the cause of all that, but he remains silent as he had been for these past few days.
Besides, it was nothing to bring up in front of Suguro as it was.
Talk about awkward. Was there ever a moment with this family that didn't result in him feeling like he was missing something or was stuck in the middle of an awkward tension? He picked up the practice sword and followed behind Yukio. Despite the awkward silence he was excited. He had been since Shura first mentioned teaching him how to use a sword.
When they reach the rooftop Shura turns around and grins. "A'ight you two. First off we're gonna start with stances. If you ain't standing right yer opponent's gonna knock you flat on yer ass."
She sets her feet just barely wider than shoulder-width apart, forming a sort of obtuse "v" shape with them and slightly bending her knees. "It's all about knowing where your center of gravity is. No one's put together the exact same way, so I ain't gonna bother telling ya precise angles to hold yourself at. But the basic position should be the same."
Shura continues holding the pose as an example, feeling perfectly relaxed in what is now, for her, a natural stance. "Now you two try."
Unsure of really what else he could do Rin shoves his hands in the pockets of his shorts and follows Shirou slowly. He hadn't heard word of the training, or if so he'd forgotten. He wasn't opposed to learning how to fight, especially considering his recent ruling from the Grigori anything would help.
The answer is brief and to the point, in fact the walk itself is not a long one and once he is happy with the location he turns and tosses the second of the two practice swords he's carrying toward the boy. Shifting on his feet, he muses toward the boy. "Now, let's see what you're capable of. I want you to try and hit me."
Rin catches the sword with no real skill, at Shirou's words though his face falters. The look he gives the old man is far from convinced this was a good idea.
"Are you kidding me?? I'll break your old brittle bones!"
"Eh, what's that?" He going to stand there, itching at his ear with a disbelieving look. "That's strange, I can't hear anything over the sound of you not actually doing anything to prove that."
