The vampire. One of the vampires he'd met, anyway. This one... Spike, yes. The Master gave him a grin.

"I never needed much sleep. Besides, I always love a good walk at night."

"When you've lived as long as I have, you learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to survival," he explained. "The universe is hardly what I'd call safe, but one learns to handle it."

Killua needed to get out. That house, so full of people he just didn't want to see, was suffocating, but being completely alone out in the wastes was just as bad. The young teenager compromised by wandering around the city. Seeing everyone walking around as per usual didn't help his mood, and finally he resolved to kick something at the next person he saw. Something big. And sharp.

He didn't even bother to look up when he heard the passerby coming. He just aimed, kicked, and watched the jagged rock fly toward his target.

His Time Lord senses and reflexes allowed him to both see the rock coming, and catch it. Someone was obviously in a bad mood.

"You really ought to watch where you're kicking those things," the Master said with a smirk as he approached the boy. "You just might try and hurt someone."

"Too bad I didn't," he returned easily, shrugging as if he was talking about how he forgot his watch that day.

A bit of a brat, wasn't he? The Master began to approach him. "Too bad? Oh, yes, indeed. You never know what kind of attention you might catch."

Fran went on a walk to clear his thoughts. It isn't working.

Though he would deny it, Fran's head had been rather occupied by unpleasant thoughts, all relating to become an undead monster and taking a shot to the head. The scene, the look on her face, how... utterly pathetic he was. Though fuzzy, flashes of that moment kept repeating over, and over, and over again, not dissipating with even the most forceful of attempts to shut them out. Oh, what he wouldn't give to just forget-

Realizing that there is in fact a person in his path only inspires a hard stare at the other man, before he continues on his path. Or at least, attempts to.

Without any words, the Master could simply sense his troubled mind. A very brief, light touch of it told him that it had to do something with the events last week. The zombies.

He called out. "A particularly hard time last week, wasn't it?

Fran stops. He felt something he didn't like about this guy, a presence not unlike master. He didn't like that; it felt invasive somehow. Frown.

"Ah, the zombies were kind of cool, but it was annoying dying. Why?"

He says it with little indication that it actually bothers him.

"I can tell by the look on your face." He smiled slightly. "Have you ever died before? How it is regenerating here?"

It's a very rare night indeed when Katniss can bring herself to sleep without nightmares. Most times, they're horrific enough that she forgoes sleep altogether after experiencing one - there's no need to wake anyone else with her screaming. She prefers wandering instead, outside, still armed with a bow and all of her arrows because it's a Victor's instinct to never let their guards down.

Her steps are silent even against the rubble, but the last thing she's expecting to see out tonight is someone else, especially at this hour. She casts a wayward glance his way, tense but not making any unnecessary movements yet. She'd met...nice people, here. Although not nice enough to override her instincts.

So Katniss keeps him at figurative arms length, walking by without a word.

"Awfully late to be wandering around at night," the Master greeted casually as she walked by. His eyes flickered to the bow and arrows. "Though you seem ready for the unexpected!"

"It's better than being unprepared," Katniss shrugs, not at all missing the direction of his gaze. Unlike a gun, a bow and quiver aren't things that can easily be hidden, so she takes the attention with the feeling of semi-security that having something so familiar around brings. For the first...month that she'd been here, it had worked out to be alright.

He wasn't armed, though with some of the abilities she's seen the people of this city display, it probably wasn't necessary.

"In a place like this? Of course. There's no such thing as being too prepared."

The Time Lord took a few steps towards her, non-threateningly. He gestured to her armaments. "Those don't look like your average, run-of-the-mill bow and arrows. What are they?"

It was early-ridiculously early. As Ulquiorra didn't need to sleep, he tended to schedule his trips to the Wasteland for the middle of the night, and it was about time for him to eat. He was just arriving back in the city now, as the sun rose, the only evidence of his meal a few flecks of blood on his lips and fingers.

He was on edge, as always, but his preparation was only for physical attacks. Mentally, he was vulnerable, devoting a large portion of his willpower to restraining his appetite. He knew he'd eaten enough to sustain himself, and so he had every intention of ignoring those instincts that told him to hunt down and devour the powerful souls he could sense all around him.

It wasn't the blood that caught the Master's attention, but rather the aura he could sense from Ulquiorra. He wasn't human. He'd been stuck around humans for so long, any other species was refreshing, especially when they was unfamiliar.

"Good hunting?" he called out.

Ulquiorra, likewise, could sense that this newcomer wasn't human, but that was only cause for mild interest from the Arrancar. Curiosity, but not enough to go out of his way to act on, though the power he felt from the other man was certainly worth noting, just in case it became relevant later.

His expression stayed neutral as he looked over at The Master. "Good enough."

"Do you hunt often, then? Sometimes, old habits do die hard, or rather, never die at all!" There was a hunger there, he could tell with a simple tap of his miind. Not for flesh. More than that.
