Summary: Jr., still a little shaken up from having been infected with U-DO, goes to visit Ukitake.

It was only the middle of the week. Ukitake sighed and tried, again, to read the sentence his eyes had glazed over in the book in his lap. It was something, though, and it sometimes kept his mind off of the boredom. Ukitake was a good patient, however, but some stays were better than others and this was not one of them.

He wanted to go home, wanted to keep an eye on those around him. In the clinic his sight was limited and it frustrated him, especially after the horrible things that happened the week before. The Shinigami wanted to be out there helping others cope. He felt that he was only wasting away in the bed here.

Giving up on the book, he closed it and set it on the table next to the bed, deciding instead to run his fingers through his hair. But when he heard the knock at his door, he perked up slightly, sat up a little straighter and smiled. He could feel that it was Jr. "Come in."

He opened the door and stepped in, still with that fake smile but now also looking worried. "Hey there, Jiisan."

He pulled a chair over next to Ukitake's bed and sat down, giving the Shinigami a quick look over to see what kind of shape he was in now. "How're you feeling?"

Ukitake watched him and said nothing until Jr. sat down, waiting for the young man to say anything. Something was off, but Ukitake didn't call him out on whatever it was. Even he had off days; it was only natural that others did, as well.

He offered a smile and answered. "I'm getting better every day. Unohana-taichou says I should be good to return home by the end of the week."
