Negi, meanwhile, had spent the entire day in his room, even taking meals there. Al had helped him to doctor those bruises, but he'd had bruises before. Really, it was his own conscience that was hurting him more than anything. He'd tried to help people romantically before, with advice and potions, but the first time he actually stood up and inserted himself into the situation, it backfired. And now, he'd probably messed things up for the both of them.

This was his first venture outside his room all day. He was in the kitchen, getting a bottle of water, because the one he'd had had been drained making tea earlier.

Ed was quiet when he entered the house and decided to hit the kitchen first. He hadn't had anything to eat and drinking the water outside was questionable at best. Water first, food later.

He stopped short, looking at Negi in the kitchen. The last thing he wanted to do was startle the teen, so he stayed in the doorway, clearing his throat to let him know Ed was there.

The sound of someone clearing their throat made Negi straighten up, and he turned sharply from the icebox. His back had been turned to the doorway, so he hadn't seen or heard anyone coming.

Ed. Negi's lips slipped into a frown, and reflexively, he shifted into a defensive stance, one hand balled into a fist at his side, the other flat in front of him. The last time he'd seen Ed, he'd been shoved into a table and tackled to the floor. He'd been hurt. And he wasn't about to let that happen again.

Really, Ed wasn't surprised about this sort of reception at all. He deserved every moment of it and he wasn't going to be defensive. He just gave Negi a look, something that was still defensive, but sad as well. After a moment of silence, he spoke.

"How's your back?"

Rachel was seated outside, legs crossed, her journal in her lap. She was composing a new song, idly, her pen between her teeth. Rachel needed an outlet -- music was a prime place to do that. As it always was.

She didn't notice him drawing closer, completely focused on her work.

One apology down, one to go. He didn't want to say it was almost convienent that Rachel was by the clinic, so he stuffed that thought down into the depths of his mind. He saw her outside and walked forward, stuffing his hands in his pockets, letting the fabric support his automail as it ached and demanded a decent bed. Sleep would come later. This was more important.

He stood before her, coming to a stop as he waited quietly, waiting for her.

Rachel felt someone standing there and she tapped the pen against her book thoughtfully.

"I think I may need a new harmony, what do you -- "

She looked up, mouth open to smile, but it faltered into a dark expression. Edward.

Cue her head ducking down to focus on her work.

"What."

That turned his thoughts sour. No, more than sour. But he didn't do more than scowl for a moment. His tone was quiet and level, maybe a little gruff, but nothing that would be deemed cranky or pissy. He made his bed and now he would lie in it. Everything had a consequence, and Ed was fully prepared to accept his.

"We need to talk--I need to talk. You can just listen."
