Of all people in the world Allen hadn't expected to see Kanda again. The nature of how they had parted seemed to much like a good bye. Allen acted on what he should do. Go see how the other Exorcist was before the Noah got to him. He hadn't changed out of the loose robe like prison garb not since he got to this place but he didn't have the shackles on him. Yet the physical weigh still seemed so real as he made his way to the clinic. He did it the same fast track way as always, by running on the rooftops ( ... )

He didn't stir at Allen's entrance (flashy as always). Aware of his presence, yes, and did watch his landing. Silent through the first part of the information. Glanced at him occasionally as he paced. But otherwise, Kanda simply looked elsewhere. It was the easiest course of action.

Treating this like it were any normal meeting and briefing, regardless of the fact that he was no longer an Exorcist. Old habits die hard. Especially when they've been beaten in.

He could do that.

At least, until Allen began telling him about the Animus. Toys. Break. Memories. It was only then that his gaze hardened, wherever he was looking at. Not the same situation, but eerily similar. And that made it easier to respond.

"..So they're messing with us and won't accept peace offerings." A flat, matter-of-fact tone, hands still folded in front of his mouth. The same kind of tone he used when explaining the Ghost of Martel that one time, long ago. "Anyone ever try to find them?"

Neither of them were really Exorcists anymore. Allen always operated as he was one. Just because he wasn't allowed to wear the coat didn't mean he couldn't keep doing the job. It was almost comforting dealing with Kanda again. No hugs like Lenalee had done. No studying expressions the way Lavi had. Cold hard facts. "That's right."

Allen sat down on the ground and folded his legs underneath him. "A group went into the inner city. They only found left behind equipment. Where ever they are, we can't find them yet."

After so long of working for the Order, it was.. easier. To pretend it was still like that. Easier than-- .. Than not being part of the Order.

He has no idea what that was like anymore. It was all he ever was. All that he could remember.

And her.

It didn't take too much effort to pretend to be interested in what Allen was saying.

"What kind of equipment?"
