Summary: Aizen invites Mayuri to a friendly chat on science. No, really.
In truth, Aizen Sousuke was a gambling man. He liked taking risks, being audacious: it was a natural side effect of being fearless. He knew he would win and he knew what to do if he lost. But that did not mean that the risk-taking didn't excite him. He was excited now: he was taking his biggest risk yet.
He'd given Kurotsuchi Mayuri coordinates, and they were not of his house. The scientist was mad but not stupid: he'd surely notice, and the chance stood that even at this moment, Aizen was waiting for a party of the city's Shinigami and allies to descend upon his lab and enact what passed for justice in Adstringendum. And yet he stood at the door and the door was open, inviting. Things hissed and whirred and bubbled within.
His hidden laboratory was placed in an underground level that he concluded to have once been a bomb shelter, having learned of the concept (along with the concept of bombs) from his endless hours at the library. It was perfect - no ordinary disaster could rattle it. Aside from basic shielding spells that masked his own reiatsu and any output from his experiments, however, he'd put no other wards in place. Why attract attention? So that the place gave off no special vibe, and the door was only visible once one navigated the rubble from the collapsed building on top. Now, however, he stood by that door, making his reiatsu easy to sense - a lone figure in black, happily waiting for whatever came his way.
