Kurotsuchi didn't think too much on why he'd agreed to meet Aizen somewhere. It was true that he didn't trust him, but he was curious as to what all this was about, if Aizen had found something related to a possible new outbreak of angels. Kurotsuchi didn't trust anyone, when it came down to it, so that wasn't much reason not to go; Aizen, at least, didn't go out of his way to annoy him.

And there was no harm in going to have a look, was there?

He did notice that the location wasn't where the other had seemed to make his house, and maybe that should've invoked suspicion - but even then, he mostly just wondered why. And when he got close, he was sure it was the right location, anyway; Aizen's reiatsu led him right to him, and as he caught sight of him, he nodded slightly as he approached.

"Kurotsuchi-taicho."

If there was anything different about Aizen as he gave his greeting, along with a low, formal bow, it was not immediately evident. Outwardly, at that moment, he was still acting the concerned and respectful lieutenant. He was playing a strange game now, almost a mockery of the pretense, seeing just how far he was going to be able to stretch his limits. Kurotsuchi didn't trust him, of course. No one trusted him, but Kurotsuchi was both outward and practical about it. He was not trying to fool him, really.

He was trying to make him curious.

"Thank you for coming, sir. Please come in." He gestured toward the open door, with the buzz of machinery and faint smell of ozone and preservatives from within, but did not move to enter himself yet. He wanted a reaction, whatever that reaction was going to be. He wanted to see if Kurotsuchi would walk in.

The continued pretense of politeness - it amused the scientist a little, but he didn't show it, and he didn't hesitate as he walked through the opened door. Kurotsuchi was suspicious, but he was also almost fatalistically practical; he knew he'd already seen Kyouka Suigetsu's release. If the man intended to betray him, the scientist knew he most likely wouldn't be able to stop it. Just arriving was recognition of that fact; being cautious of a door wouldn't make a difference.

And even if it had... Kurotsuchi knew the sounds of science when he heard them, and he didn't try to hide his interest.

Even so, what he saw was more than he expected, and he half-turned, glancing back in Aizen's direction. "I see you've not been wasting your time here."

As the captain's back was turned, Aizen allowed himself just a brief flash of a satisfied smile. Good. He had him, then, had him by the only thing anyone could possibly catch Kurotsuchi by ( ... )
