He had slept well, because he always slept well, and having someone else in bed with him was just pleasant. And warm, very warm, but then, the house didn't seem to have anything that resembled a decent heating system, and often got cold at night.

But the voice woke him, and he sat up, blinking at the strong sunlight. He was a morning person, and it seemed to take his brain no time at all to go from 'asleep and non-functional' to 'all revved up and ready to astonish the world at large with its insights'. He knew who was in bed with him and why, and beamed at the boy, delighted by his presence.

"Good morning, Kaoru!" he said, frowning as he took in the boy's posture. "You really shouldn't do that to your hair," he added, concerned. "What if you go bald?"

Kaoru's eyes darted to the side when he heard Tamaki speak and he frowned a little. He hadn't meant to wake the other boy up... He blinked a few times, just looking blank, but then a small smile graced his lips and he even managed a small, tired laugh.

"Y-Yeah," he said, lowering his hands, looking unsure of what to do with them for a moment before going to hug his knees closer to his chest. "This... this is real," Kaoru said, his voice dropping. "It wasn't just some... messed up dream.

It was unlike either of the twins to look so disheartened, but then again, it was unlike them to be apart. He wondered if they ever had been apart.

He sat up and scooted closer until he was sitting next to Kaoru. Slipping an arm around his shoulder, he pulled him closer, holding him firmly.

"It's real, and you've got a whole new world to play with," he said, cheerfully. "When Hikaru turns up, don't you want to be able to show him around?"

[ooc: Okay! So we just handwave that IC, then? I mean, we assume Tamaki has cleared it with Al?]

Kaoru hesitated for a moment before letting out a long breath and leaning his head against Tamaki's shoulder. It wasn't Hikaru, but... it was still contact. Caring contact, at that.

"Yeah," he said with a nod, not sounding nearly as down as before. "I'm sure I can find lots of things to do, with people here from all sorts of times and worlds. And we can work on the tea salon, too. Get more people coming in, maybe even find a few others to work as hosts. We'll make everything nice for Hikaru..."
