The two guards on duty are leaning against the wall, paying little to no attention. They will, however, notice when people start walking past them.

The armor was freshly oiled and minimized screeching. However, the heavy suit still clanged loudly, rattling a bit with each step. It approached the two guards with polite purposefulness, light shining behind its eyes, aware of the guns the guards carried. The two didn't much notice until the armor came close, and then they both drew their weapons, pointing them ( ... )

Skyler didn't hesitate after Al had done his part, popping out of a hole in the ground and darting through the gap in the wall. He wasn't entirely sure of what they were doing there, but it seemed important to many people. He had prepared for trouble, as he did for anything dangerous, and packed his bag with some berries and seeds.

There didn't seem to be any immediate response to the guard that had fled, but it was unlikely that would remain the case for long so the little fire-type hurried on. He wanted to be in as good a position as possibly when the trouble started.

Not bad to have the guy with an armor suit make the approach. He probably shouldn't linger too long near the gap since that guard who had fled could've called for reinforcement.

He sees Alphonse had left one of the guards alive and tied up. This won't do, you can't let the enemy have any possible opportunities on a mission like this. So, he's going to finish the job, before continuing onwards.

Nearby is one guard who is patrolling. He has not yet noticed the group, but noise will catch his ear.

Sasuk watched the lone guard for a moment before leaping down soundlessly from the treetop that he had been hiding in. He touched down with a light thud, ignoring the jolt of pain throughout his body and healing arm. He might still be injured, but there wasn't any chance that he would miss this.

He needed to prove to himself more than the others that he was still a capable and powerful shinobi.

The sound of Sasuke touching down had caught the guard's attention, but the teen gave him no time to react. A quick blow to the back of the guard's neck had him falling to the ground unconscious. The radio at his belt buzzed with static before it was removed and destroyed.

Sasuke made sure to give the signal that it was clear before heading on inside the building. He knew he would be followed shortly.

Rose didn't bother to even spare a glance at the guard or the boy hopping down next to him. It was a distraction that she was more than willing to take advantage of, and she quickly slunk by before he'd given his signal, ducking low as she ran with practiced silence. She had no plans, no real goal; she just wanted a good time and a good challenge. Following the boy inside, a small smile crept up the side of her lips. That was what she'd been promised after all.

He was almost surprised as to how smoothly the beginning of the operation went. There were no outrageously obnoxious kids, and the youth that were there were relatively able to keep their heads. Logan was near Sasuke, although behind him on the ground- he was no ninja, but he was one of the lightest walkers he knew. Dark eyes flashed up to the boy and he nodded, watched as he jumped down- and though he couldn't see the guard from his location, he could hear him. Smell him.

The coast was clear, and Logan whirled- feet pounding as he ran towards the building after the boy. So far, his claws were still hidden- they would break the skin as soon as a threat came into view.

Front Doors of the building vile_queen May 26 2009, 16:11:01 UTC
These are unguarded and unlocked so the scientists can freely come and go. The city is not ready for an invasion. But if robodinosaurs or guards or creatures are pursuing people, these would be a good place to make a stand and fight back, a bottleneck.

The building feels empty. Most of the scientists are on their lunch break. They’ll start filtering in again in two or three hours or so - it’s not like they can really be fired, being stuck here.

You will find files here, lots and lots of files. All paper, all archived according to a decimal system that’s more confusing than Dewy.

The basement was hard to miss -- stairs going down from the gap were right there, and Al moved quickly, making as little noise as possible, checking for guards. The building felt... strangely empty, and he encountered the slightly dusty smell of paper, like a library mixed with a laboratory ( ... )

It was a too familiar sight, at least for him. Allelujah was very careful, though; there was no telling how many traps might be hidden here. Rows after rows of cabinets were filling the room. A quick look proved that finding some data might be not so easy thanks to the archiving system, but obtaining any information regarding how to keep people in or bring them back was his main goal. After checking a few cabinets he put the files containing possibly helpful information into the backpack he's carrying. One file caught his eye, so he read it carefully before also stuffing it into the backpack together with other files. 'Third floor, huh? We'll make it just in time.' Hallelujah seemed way to cheerful.

One scared female scientist is here, Caroline Abbot. You can talk to her, but she won’t give you much information. Caroline is a botanist. She came in to check on the three plants she’s growing, hybrids of the carnivorous vine and a cactus. They’re caged in fine wire mesh, with a chute for dumping food in, and a built-in sprinkler system. It might not be a good idea to let them out.

This floor has many traps, as it is the ground level.

No guards had seemed to notice the intrusion yet, but when the armor emerged from the stairs, leaving Al himself below for the time being, he did encounter a young woman in the maze of rooms. Careful not to touch anything in the cages, he hurried towards her, raising a hand in a friendly little wave, wishing he looked like himself right now, but thankfully he was used to playing off the fact that he was seven feet tall.

"Don't be scared, Miss," Al said gently, standing back, though he was blocking her escape route. "I'm sorry to freak you out, but my friends and I are only looking for some information. I'm not planning to hurt you or the others. It'll help me not to harm anyone if I have more information about the defenses, okay?"

Caroline squeaked at seeing the armor walk in, and backed up as far as she could against the counter. Her eyes were wide, and she glanced at the nearest vine, wondering how maternal they felt. She'd cared for them all along, after all.

"I'm not scared! And you can't hurt me! I have, I have..." Pruning shears. Oh yeah, those would work well against armor. Nonetheless, she held them out in front of her. "You won't hurt anyone unless I give you information that will help you get to us better? Do you think I'm stupid?" She certainly felt stupid right now. She shouldn't have come back so quickly, but one of the vine cacti had a flower bud she'd wanted to study and watch bloom.

Al hesitated, knowing he had very little time before anyone behind him decided that hurting her would be an easier way to get her to cooperate. She was scared, not a fighter. He looked at her face, and far too easily saw people he knew, people he loved who had died because people decided violence was the best way.

"If I wanted to hurt you, wouldn't I have done it already?" Al said, and though his voice was gentle, it was also firm.

"Look, I'm here because I'm trying to find information on someone I love, not because I want to hurt anyone," Al said told her. "But some of the other people breaking in are angry, and they'll hurt you."

He hesitated, hearing crashes and faint screams in the distance. Very quickly, he moved towards her, putting one dinner-plate sized hand on her arm, looking back towards the doorway. People were coming. Maybe guards.

Any sort of attack with the shears wouldn't be retaliated upon. She was terrified and he knew it. He wouldn't hold it against her.
