Where: By the Saiyukiyaki house zoo.
Rating: PG-13 (language, references to incest, matricide, and child abuse)
Summary: Brewing over recent events and thoughts, Doku looks for Gojyo in order to apologize.

Gojyo was introducing Zhong to the cow, who was apparently named Cow or Beef or something stupid. That was because the Monkey had named the cow. Zhong had a good name. "And this smelly piece of food won't eat you, but she might step on you. So watch out for her, too."

He held her up to his shirt pocket, allowing her to climb in again if she wanted to. She poked her head in, looked up at him, then clambered in. Hearing footsteps, Gojyo looked up, ready to defend himself from being mocked by the priest or monkey.

"Hey, bro! How is the day treating you?" Gojyo studied Doku's face, knowing something had been bugging his brother. He wanted to get things working right with Doku. He had a chance to, here. "Can I.. is there anything..." Gojyo shrugged. He didn't have skills with conversation, and his other talents would not come in handy with his brother.

Doku chuckled quietly when he saw Gojyo with his pet sugar glider and the resident cow. They really did live in a zoo. He waved at his brother before he reached out and gave the cow a friendly rub behind the ears. It provided a distraction and a few more minutes to try to sort out what he wanted to say.

"Pretty well. I found more wood to work with, I think I can build a base to keep that rose in. Did... you like it?"

Gojyo nodded back, watching Doku pet the cow. "She seems to like you," he said with a grin.

"I did. It's amazing. I don't know how the hell you manage to make something like that. It's pretty, and it used to be just wood. I'm not skilled with my hands at all like that."

He resisted the urge to put his arm around his brother or something like that. He still wasn't sure how this whole sibling thing worked. It had been a very long time, after all. "So you're good and shit?"

Doku gave a small sigh of relief he wasn't even aware he had been holding. While he made plenty of things for the other youkai in the castle, especially his own group, it'd been years since he'd made anything for Gojyo. He knew Yaone was sincere in her words and actions whenever he made her a new box to hold her apothecary supplies in or a pair of hairsticks, and Kou's silence in accepting a sword stand was all he needed. But Gojyo was too old for toy boats and other wood toys (though Doku wouldn't have minded racing toy boats in the river ( ... )
