He studied the wood Doku was holding. "Right. Because you knew you were going to find me in a place and time we don't have to fight. You're shit at lying." Gojyo stuck his feet up on the coffee table after a subtle glance around to make sure Hakkai wasn't nearby. "So what's that really going to be?"
Reply
"You're the one who asked why it took me so long to get here. And maybe this was going to be for you." He gave the piece of wood in his hand a shake before looking at it again. "...I haven't decided. I could make a whistle, but I'd need more tools to properly carve it. Maybe a figurine or a pendant. Hey, I could make something for you and you could give it to some woman to woo."

Gojyo shrugged. Doku had a point, but it was more fun to tease lightly than admit it. "It doesn't speak to your or shit? I thought artsy stuff was supposed to." He gave Dokugakuji a playful shove, laughing. "I don't need anything to woo women. I have them falling all over me right and left, and one who decided to stick with me. Maybe you should keep it, I can't recall you ever having any luck with the ladies."

"Oh no, it speaks to me. It's saying I need to carve it into something nice, but it hasn't told me what it should be." Doku gave a shove back with his elbow and chuckled quietly. Always the charmer. In some ways, just like the old man, though he kept that thought to himself. "So you got a girlfriend? Tell me about her. And hey, I have plenty of luck. The ladies are always awed over my muscles and polite nature."

He watched his brother. He'd always envied the easy way life just seemed to come to Ji-- Doku. He still didn't get the name change, but he figured if it was important, Doku would tell him. "Well, as long as it's speaking. That's what matters." Gojyo nodded. "She's hot as hell, fantastic in bed, and actually likes me for being me. It's damn cliche, but I'll take it. She makes me happy. And..."
Well. How exactly did he bring up the other part of the relationship? It would be obvious sooner or later, but he probably should tell his brother. "It's not just her and me. I've been, I... shit. Hakkai's part of it too. The three of us are together."

Doku sat back and listened to his brother talk about his partner. Or partners as it was. While it caught him off guard, he wasn't really surprised by it. Gojyo was a loving and caring person. So what if he needed two people for all that love? All that mattered was he was happy and if Gojyo was happy, Doku was happy as well.
"You walk an interesting road there. Should I be looking for some earplugs or moving to a room further away from the three of you?"

Doku seemed fine with what Gojyo'd said. That was a relief. "Damn, man. It's nice to know I can do things right and other people are fine with it." People kept surprising him here. Juke and Ginia were fine with him being a half-demon, Jien wasn't bothered by him being with a guy too... "Hakkai would kill us if we got too loud. He's pretty concerned with appearances. Grab earplugs if you can find them, though." He grinned, a little proud of himself. "What can I say? I have skills."

He waved toward the kitchen, remembering how quickly Goku had wolfed down the meat. Really, it was almost rose than Lirin... or vice-versa. He briefly entertained the idea of the two of them in the same household before dismissing the idea. There was a bad idea; there wouldn't be any food left for anyone.
"Earplugs, got them. Who knows what else they may come in handy for." He ran a thumbnail against the grain of the wood before giving a slow smile and nodding absently in response to Gojyo's statement. "Sure, sure. Hey, what's your girlfriend's name?"

They were going to have to get to work to keep themselves supplied with food. They'd made it through the sudden company because they'd had a surplus, and because Gojyo had to keep leaving the house so he could get away from the yelling. The yelling. He was probably going to have to mention that their mom had been here, sooner or later. Gojyo voted for later.
He watched Doku examine the wood, wondering what it would be like to be artistic. "Ginia. I call her beautiful Ginia, though. You'll see why, and it makes her smile. You've got a room here, right? I mean, we've got the space, and we can sure as hell make you comfortable. You're better company than most we get."

Doku lightly tapped his thumb against the piece of wood, mapping everything out in his mind. He'd need to find more tools, especially a good gouge. Giving his brother a pat on the knee, he smiled and got up from the couch. "Don't worry, I have a room. Hey, go get caught up with everyone else, all right? Everyone's been worried about you. I'm going to get this piece of work started on."
He took a few steps before looking over his shoulder. "Hey, Gojyo, it's good seeing you again."

He watched Doku get up, still a bit surprised that his brother came. "I'll do that. But I'm sure the priest only missed me for target practice, and the monkey just missed someone to carry another plate he can steal off of." He smirked, getting up himself and heading toward the others' rooms. "But Hakkai might have actually missed me."
Nodding to his brother, Gojyo's smile got a bit soft. "It's good seeing you too, Dokugakuji. Though Jien's a hell of a lot easier to say. Even Doku is."

But that didn't matter too much now. Maybe after all these years, he could work on being a proper big brother to Gojyo and make up for all the things he did wrong. It'd be nice.
