Gojyo had pushed himself into a sitting position, glaring at his PCD. They'd lost. So whatever he'd lost was probably gone, and... Yep, he'd fucked up royally again. But that was what he was good for, right? Even ranting at his PCD hadn't made him any less annoyed this time. He didn't even know for sure where he was. Sure, there were people around, but none of them was reacting to him. He might still be invisible. Was this permanent ( ... )

Gojyo tilted his head. "The hell you did. Once, maybe, from the huge-ass crab shikigami. Though we probably could have sorted that ourselves. Are you sure you know how to count?" He grinned, relaxing. This was a very nice surprise, for once. Now he ran the risk of actually being happy here again. That was dangerous, with his track record.

He studied the wood Doku was holding. "Right. Because you knew you were going to find me in a place and time we don't have to fight. You're shit at lying." Gojyo stuck his feet up on the coffee table after a subtle glance around to make sure Hakkai wasn't nearby. "So what's that really going to be?"

"And from Zakuro? That one was pretty close." And it figured that youkai was back around, though from the sound of things, it seemed like the local cats were giving him enough trouble. Yes, he was powerful once someone was trapped inside his illusions, but until then, he wasn't too much of a bother.

"You're the one who asked why it took me so long to get here. And maybe this was going to be for you." He gave the piece of wood in his hand a shake before looking at it again. "...I haven't decided. I could make a whistle, but I'd need more tools to properly carve it. Maybe a figurine or a pendant. Hey, I could make something for you and you could give it to some woman to woo."

"Who?" Gojyo mentally ran down the list of people they'd faced. "I don't know who the hell that is? Are you sure you didn't hit your head on something?" He was pretty sure he could remember everyone they'd come across. "Unless, damn. You could be from my future like almost everyone else here is. I forget about that sometimes." Not like it was easy to forget, since future events kept being brought up, but it wasn't anything he tried to stay aware of.

Gojyo shrugged. Doku had a point, but it was more fun to tease lightly than admit it. "It doesn't speak to your or shit? I thought artsy stuff was supposed to." He gave Dokugakuji a playful shove, laughing. "I don't need anything to woo women. I have them falling all over me right and left, and one who decided to stick with me. Maybe you should keep it, I can't recall you ever having any luck with the ladies."

"Zakuro, the youkai illusionist, we ran into him after Yaone and I fished you guys out of the river. There, three times that I've saved you then. But I'll give you a heads up he's around here. Seems determined to take the four of you down, though the cats are giving him trouble." He smirked a little and leaned back on the couch, tilting his head back in thought.

"Oh no, it speaks to me. It's saying I need to carve it into something nice, but it hasn't told me what it should be." Doku gave a shove back with his elbow and chuckled quietly. Always the charmer. In some ways, just like the old man, though he kept that thought to himself. "So you got a girlfriend? Tell me about her. And hey, I have plenty of luck. The ladies are always awed over my muscles and polite nature."

Gojyo held his hands up. "I'd remember shit like that. So you maybe saved my specific ass once. And just slightly. We probably could have taken down that crab fucker on our own." Gojyo smirked faintly. "If he's struggling on the cats, then we should be good. We dealt with some nasty fuckers a few weeks back."

He watched his brother. He'd always envied the easy way life just seemed to come to Ji-- Doku. He still didn't get the name change, but he figured if it was important, Doku would tell him. "Well, as long as it's speaking. That's what matters." Gojyo nodded. "She's hot as hell, fantastic in bed, and actually likes me for being me. It's damn cliche, but I'll take it. She makes me happy. And..."

Well. How exactly did he bring up the other part of the relationship? It would be obvious sooner or later, but he probably should tell his brother. "It's not just her and me. I've been, I... shit. Hakkai's part of it too. The three of us are together."

"Make sure you don't look into his eyes. That's how he traps people inside his illusions. But don't worry, if you get caught again, I'll knock you out. Again."

Doku sat back and listened to his brother talk about his partner. Or partners as it was. While it caught him off guard, he wasn't really surprised by it. Gojyo was a loving and caring person. So what if he needed two people for all that love? All that mattered was he was happy and if Gojyo was happy, Doku was happy as well.

"You walk an interesting road there. Should I be looking for some earplugs or moving to a room further away from the three of you?"

"Thanks, I think?" Gojyo shook his head, chuckling. "I'll keep that in mind, I don't feel like being knocked out. How did you guys find out he was here? Did anyone get hurt?" He wouldn't be surprised if someone had managed to get injured while he was gone. Everyone seemed to have a knack for it.

Doku seemed fine with what Gojyo'd said. That was a relief. "Damn, man. It's nice to know I can do things right and other people are fine with it." People kept surprising him here. Juke and Ginia were fine with him being a half-demon, Jien wasn't bothered by him being with a guy too... "Hakkai would kill us if we got too loud. He's pretty concerned with appearances. Grab earplugs if you can find them, though." He grinned, a little proud of himself. "What can I say? I have skills."

"He was pretty loud over the network, couldn't really miss it. Apparently he was being attacked by a cat. All sorts of strange monsters around here. Ran into a giant boar on my first, there's still some meat left in the fridge, if you're hungry. Better eat it before Goku gets the rest."

He waved toward the kitchen, remembering how quickly Goku had wolfed down the meat. Really, it was almost rose than Lirin... or vice-versa. He briefly entertained the idea of the two of them in the same household before dismissing the idea. There was a bad idea; there wouldn't be any food left for anyone.

"Earplugs, got them. Who knows what else they may come in handy for." He ran a thumbnail against the grain of the wood before giving a slow smile and nodding absently in response to Gojyo's statement. "Sure, sure. Hey, what's your girlfriend's name?"

Gojyo laughed. "Couldn't miss it unless you were trying to keep your ass from getting killed. Damn. One little event and I'm so far out of the loop. And the cats are vicious." He raised an eyebrow, glancing towards the kitchen. "I am, but I'll wait for Ginia to get back, and kill the Monkey if he tries to take it first."

They were going to have to get to work to keep themselves supplied with food. They'd made it through the sudden company because they'd had a surplus, and because Gojyo had to keep leaving the house so he could get away from the yelling. The yelling. He was probably going to have to mention that their mom had been here, sooner or later. Gojyo voted for later.

He watched Doku examine the wood, wondering what it would be like to be artistic. "Ginia. I call her beautiful Ginia, though. You'll see why, and it makes her smile. You've got a room here, right? I mean, we've got the space, and we can sure as hell make you comfortable. You're better company than most we get."

"You'll have to tell me about the event sometime. And sure, no problem, help yourself to as much as you want."

Doku lightly tapped his thumb against the piece of wood, mapping everything out in his mind. He'd need to find more tools, especially a good gouge. Giving his brother a pat on the knee, he smiled and got up from the couch. "Don't worry, I have a room. Hey, go get caught up with everyone else, all right? Everyone's been worried about you. I'm going to get this piece of work started on."

He took a few steps before looking over his shoulder. "Hey, Gojyo, it's good seeing you again."

"Being trapped and burned makes a great story, yeah," Gojyo said, but he said it with a smile. "But sure. And thanks, man."

He watched Doku get up, still a bit surprised that his brother came. "I'll do that. But I'm sure the priest only missed me for target practice, and the monkey just missed someone to carry another plate he can steal off of." He smirked, getting up himself and heading toward the others' rooms. "But Hakkai might have actually missed me."

Nodding to his brother, Gojyo's smile got a bit soft. "It's good seeing you too, Dokugakuji. Though Jien's a hell of a lot easier to say. Even Doku is."

"Call me Doku then." He said it with a small laugh. Even though it had been more than several years since that night, he wasn't quite ready to go back to Jien. There was still too much weight on his real name to go back to it, but he couldn't ignore or deny it either. It was a part of his past, one he did not forget though one he didn't let drag him down too much.

But that didn't matter too much now. Maybe after all these years, he could work on being a proper big brother to Gojyo and make up for all the things he did wrong. It'd be nice.
