Bull Durham

Found one of my very favourite movies last night at Walmart for a whopping eight bucks. (Yes, I know, Walmart, evil, evil, but... when Jet needs new shoes, I have to take advantage of their dubious labour practices. I do feel guilty for days afterwards though ( Read more... )

It's funny, I own the DVD as well, and I too recently bought it (well, recently enough that its still wrapped in plastic) on a impulse cause it was cheap, though in my case at Shoppers Drug Mart (not that I have any aversion to Wal-Mart. I'm all for dubious labour practices if it brings me cheaper crap :)) I bought it solely because of you (or you & Braz I think?) talking about it being a good movie and a good sports movie, and I realized I had never seen it. So when I saw it right next to Fargo (a movie that had come up in our "Cohen Bros' body of work" conversations and I had realized I had never seen it either), both $8.88, I realized this was as close to a sign from the Movie Gods as I was gonna get, and I bought them both.

Haven't watched either yet, but I own them :)

But anyway, thought you should know you had influenced that purchase decision, and I was amused at our parallel of our "hey, this movie is cheap, I should buy it" impulse purchases :)

Awesome. It really is an excellent sports film :)

And you know what's REALLY funny in all this?

While looking at the all the cheap DVDs at WalMart, after I had already secured Bull Durham, nothing really caught my eye until I went "Oh look, Fargo."

I didn't get it, but I was *that* close to picking it up too.

Great minds think alike. Or at least have similar tastes in movies in a lot of cases ;)

Oh that is AWESOME :) And its more than just GMTA or similar taste in movies, and afterall you were in a large part responsible for my picking up both Bull Durham and Fargo, its the whole synchronicity of the thing, the fact that we both saw the two movies, both had the same thoughts, and almost both bought them both, all so close together. Its the strange little universe we live in :)
