Coda to episode 5.12 with a couple of 5.10 spoilers thrown in the midst. Sam wants to be prepared in case something like this happens again. And in between the pretty lights and the octopus, Dean's distracted.
Nice coda! I love the mention of the asthma...and the use of it for Sam's own little coded conversation with Dean at the end.
It reminds me of my brother, who has asthma but never used his inhaler, he'd just ride out the mild-attacks he got. One day after years of not using an inhaler, he took a puff from one. I remember him sitting there amazed, taking deep breaths and then turning to me and saying "Is this how easy it is for you to breathe?!!"
Oh, wow! You know, I was going on nothing but supposition here, figuring that a healthy guy like Sam would feel that difference very deeply. But to hear a personal experience like that and finding it so close... Thank you for sharing that! You made my day :D
I'm happy to have made your day! I didn't know it was supposition at all. I figured you must have had personal experience with asthma, so yeah, good call and very nicely done :-)
Yay! Finally someone used the asthma! This was amazing. Loved Sam's introspection (finally) about how he doesn't really see Dean. Doesn't appreciate the (occasionally annoying) wonder that is his brother. Everyone human who meets Dean likes him. Except Sam really doesn't any more. But he wants to change that. Hope they can get back together. Oh, well if Show doesn't do it, then I'm sure some amazing writer will do it for them!
Oh, I'm sure the show is building up to get them closer :o) The more they realize how far apart they've grown, the quicker that will happen. Thank you for reading and for your lovely review!
You had a lot of lines that were,as ginzai said, spot-on and painful, including the one that ginzai pointed out, but I also have to add my love for this one too: Somehow, somewhere along the line, Sam had become immune to Dean’s charisma and presence, had stopped recognizing what a decent human being his brother was and being appreciative of that. A sort of selective blindness, where all he could see were Dean’s flaws and shortcomings.
I have to apologize, I read a lot of your fics, but I don't always comment, I shall try and correct that with future fics. :-)
I think the asthma thing was just there to make Gary as close to cliche as the writers dared. But man, I loved the frustration in Jared's face when he was trying to get free from the ropes and realized that he wasn't in his Hulk size body anymore *g*

Loved the pick up on the asthma, Dean's snarking, the charisma line (that is sooo perfect,)the hopefulness that they are starting to reconnect.
