Shit, I LOVE pathos! Not everything turns out Happily Ever After. Sometimes, it's simply correct to feel heart-breakingly sad at the end of a tale. You made the reader a promise, and fulfilled that beautifully.
But I have to confess... my favorite stories to read ARE the ones who end with a sad tone, even the ones that make me cry. I think they just move us more, you know?
Thank you so much! For some reason I kept picturing Sam wandering the fireing pits of Mount Doom (LoTRs), so I guess that's from where the vivid images come *g*
I don't really know what else to say, because of course there is so much more than just Sam here, but basically, it's "oooh, poor Sam", so I'm sticking with it.
Awesomely written, especially the repetition of the house in the valley!
You know, I just shook my head when I finished this. Most of my stories are Dean centric and for this, where I was suppose to write a Dean centric story... I end up inside Sam's head *g*
MY GODS, woman! You have utterly destroyed me!! Even now I can't catch my breath - and all I can see is a glass house with a well inside...and my futile run with Sam.
