Daughter of a Bitch

From yesterday's word document....

I have parental issues. I sometimes wish that I could claim I was adopted or like Rob that I was a test tube baby therefore I don’t have to claim shared genes with either of my parents. My father is a grade A loser. I realized this when I was probably 12 and I have been dealing with my issues from it since.

My parents never used to come to my horse shows when they were just 1 mile from their house. They never came to see Minion ONCE in the year he was alive. After a similar screaming fit to yourself when Tari was born they came down the day she was born. They drive for 5 hours, saw her for 1/2 hour and drove home again.

I have no idea how I am related to either of my parents either. I am SO different to them!

*hugs* You're mom is an idiot.

Thanks!
It sounds like you grew up in a similar household to mine....I think the best things we learn from parents like that is how NOT to act.

And we're both bette people for their crappiness.

Was she a hippie? Maybe she did a lot of drugs. I don't know.

I remember your mother being like that even when we were little, when we'd have sleepovers and whatnot. :( But since her behavior bothers you so much, I really doubt you have a chance of becoming that kind of mother. If you ever want a caring/occasionally overprotective mother, come visit my mom and she'll coddle you. :> Sometimes I think I'm much too sarcastic and mean to have come from a person who is so sweet and generous ( ... )

Also, he lost his job because he couldn't be bothered to follow basic safety regulations at his workplace--the rules never apply to him. It's just like when he was married to my mom. She had gotten him a job with Hertz, where she worked, returning rental cars to various locations. Her boss came to her one day and said that he was sorry, but he'd have to fire her husband, because he had used the rental cars to take side trips to visit his friends. Both times, my dad blamed the company for their ridiculous rules, rather than taking responsibility for his own actions.

Hee, sorry to add my venting to your venting, but your post really struck a chord with me because I've been feeling so frustrated and disappointed with my dad.

THat's perfectly fine. We wont even get started on my dad. The would probably be BEST Friends. I think it may have something to do with that generation. So many of them turned out to be wastes of space.

I remember your mom being the nicest person. She never yelled or anything like that. Just very even tempered and I know we were nuts (going down the stairs in a sleeping bag for one).

The best then we can say is that at least our parents made all these mistakes for us and we're smart enough to realize.... ewww that's retarded I'm not going to do that.

So I guess in a round about, disappointing, and frustrating way they really are "parenting us" in a negative this is how NOT to do it fashion.
