As you know, I agree with you 100%, Olivia.

It is depressing to think that 5 years later, the terrorists have won (because they have succeeded in their goal of making us more like THEM)....and the folks who profit from Big Oil (ie, the Bush family, etc) have won.

And everyone else has lost.

But what is even MORE depressing is that a good third of the American public is so fucking STUPID that they STILL don't even understand that.

Boggles the mind.

You can say that again.

It boggles my mind as well.

And we lose even more every day. You have no idea how excited I got last night when it took less than $30 to fill my gas tank. It used to take $22 or so, but lately it's been $40.

it always sounds so hypocritical to me when our leaders go on about the evils of terrorism, when really people on the other side would be almost justified in saying the same exact things about us. Iraq was a terrible mistake, not only because it was poorly planned but also because Iraq had very little to do with terrorism.

Granted, now that we're *in* Iraq we can't just pack up and go. but IMO people like Bush, Blair and Howard should no longer be in positions of authority. they need to be impeached, voted out, whatever. They shouldn't be in charge, because to them economic, theological and militaristic force is the answer to everything.

That's just not good enough. Only with compassion and understanding can our civilisation get through this.
