The thing is, I've always wanted kids, badly. But the older that I get, the more worried about how much time I have for myself I become. How much energy would I have to expend on someone else, especially someone so much younger and more energetic, as I continue to age ( Read more... )

just do it. having a kid is like magic. it turns you into an adult like instantaneously. seriously, i've seen it happen a bunch of times.

When you have a baby you lose a part of yourself. I'm not saying that's good or bad or whatever but it's the truth. When that baby comes out so does something else that is you, a part of your personality and your soul. I can't explain it but I think that's why giving birth is such an emotional thing because a part of you goes away, it sort of dies so this other new person can live. I think that some people shouldn't have kids either because they're too immature or mean or emotionally unstable or because I can't picture them being willing to give up on that little piece of who they are. You are none of these people. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but I think you sort of owe it to a child to be it's mom. You would be such a great mother that it's unfair to not allow yourself and your child the chance. Again, I don't think every woman should be a mom. I don't think it's something we all have to do and I don't think we all need to drive mini vans and spend hours making scrapbooks but I think there are some of us who have more to ( ... )

I don't want to have a baby to turn into a grown-up, I just don't know that I'm grown-up enough for one. I'm way selfish. (But I guess it's a little late to worry about all of that now, isn't it? )
