Do you ever feel like you're a tree falling in a forest, wondering if you make a sound when no one is around to hear you? That's sort of how I feel right now about writing. So let's make some noise! Words are meant to be shared, aren't they?

What I write: I write something along the lines of cross-genre character-based multi-narrative ( Read more... )

Hey angelinarenshaw May 20 2011, 18:25:44 UTC
I'm looking for friends, too. And new original stories to read. My journal is mostly comprised of excerpts from the novel I am working on, which is called Les Loups-Garous, and every once in a while I will mention purchasing information for my Drusilla Dracule novels.
I'm hoping to make myself a better writer by having people critique my posts, and give me suggestions.
Another reason I started a livejournal was to generate excitement about Les Loups-Garous which is my "baby" as they say.
If you're interested in reading those excerpts that would be awesome. You can find out more details about the story by checking out its facebook page which is titled Les Loups-Garous.
And I would love to read and give you feedback about your writing, as long you don't mind someone who will be unflinchingly honest.
Let me know.

I took a look at your journal and your current work sounds very interesting. I'd love to add you and get to know it better. :)

I don't mind "unflinchingly honest" feedback, though I'm more interested in discussing pieces or general feedback since I don't usually edit pieces once I've posted them (aside from grammatical changes). But any and all feedback is much appreciated!

Hey there! I saw the words "Neil Gaiman" in your post, and that grabbed me right away!

I've just started a writing journal, and I'd love to get some useful crit and input from other writers (and I'm very willing to offer the same, if wanted). This journal is purely for writing, so we're compatible there. Add me if you're interested! :)

I would love to exchange mutual feedback. How do you feel about fantasy satire?

I love fantasy satire. Don't read as much of it as I should, but I'm always open to it. Sounds like we'd get along great!

word. here's the link to the opening of book one: http://bewarethejabb.livejournal.com/87760.html#cutid1

and the opening of book two, which is actually the most recent thing i've been working on: http://bewarethejabb.livejournal.com/104756.html#cutid1

I'm not as concerned about editing for grammar and syntax. I'd like to think I'm pretty solid, and what remains of punctuation errors can be caught by me later, or a copy editor. I want to know your gut reaction to the story itself - are you engaged emotionally and intellectually? How is the voice, tone, pacing, POV? How do you react to the characters? Would you keep reading?

What kind of feedback are you looking for?

Awesome! I'll take a look at those links post haste (though I apologize if I don't comment on them right away; I just started a new job and things are very hectic at the moment). I'm much better with content related critique anyway, so that works well. I can already tell I'm going to like your stuff, and I've been dying for some new writing friends.

As for me, I'm not necessarily looking for hard core critique. I'd like feedback on the same sort of things you listed: how engaging the story is, how the voice, tone, pacing, etc are working for you, that sort of thing. I love discussing the art and process of writing as well.
